Acts as the local governing body for the Town of Shelter Island. Serves The Town of Shelter Island, The Shelter Island Police Department and The Shelter Island Highway Department.

Provides assistance in the following three categories: 1) Referral: Provides information and referral to services. 2) Representation: Acts as a link between disabled persons, the community, and government agencies. 3) ADA Oversight: Deals with ADA compliance and issues, and works with disabled Erie County employees regarding returning to work with reasonable accommodations. The BEST (Business and Employee Skills Training) Center at Genesee Community College offers a wide variety of programs designed to meet the evolving needs of the workforce and local businesses. These programs are primarily non-credit and focus on professional and workforce development, aiming to improve individual job skills and bolster organizational performance. Programs include technical, healthcare, business and professional development, computer and online training, driving, safety, Rural Police Training Academy, apprenticeship, and corporate customized training. The BEST Center focuses on providing high-quality, practical training to enhance individual job skills, prepare people for new careers, and support the economic growth of the Genesee, Livingston, Orleans, and Wyoming (GLOW) counties and beyond.

Provides fundraising for diabetes research with the hope of finding a cure for diabetes and its complications. Produces a newsletter, educational material, and agency brochure.

Provides services to donors and administers philanthropic funds. Makes grants to non-profit organizations and functions as a neutral convener/catalyst in Nassau and Suffolk Counties. Its mission is to build a permanent source of private funding for Long Island charities. Produces Newsletter and Agency brochure. Is an operating division of The New York Community Trust.

Works with area agencies to research and analyze public and private funding sources, analyze RFPs to fit their programs, reviews written proposals, facilitates planning processes and grant applications, holds grant development trainings and consultations and provides strategic planning consultation.

Works in partnership with the private sector and the community-based organizations to provide financial assistance and business planning primarily in rural areas. Helps fund projects or provides loan guarantees that create or preserve quality jobs and/or promote a clean rural environment. Recipients of these programs may include individuals, corporations, partnerships, cooperatives, public bodies, nonprofit corporations, Indian tribes, and private companies.

Shared educational services for school districts in Rockland County. Also adult education, Professional development, English as a Second Language, and Special Education, Careers and Technical Training.

Works to change public policy and advocate for those issues and positions that relate to local United Ways, community building, and fund raising activities.

Develops and offers professional development (training, coaching, and technical assistance) consistent with the New York State Core Body of Knowledge Core Competencies for all modalities of child care (Family, Group Family, Center and School Age). Council offers the New York State Office of Children & Family Services (NYS OCFS) mandated 15 hour Foundations in Health & Safety Training required for registration of licensing of new Family/Group Family providers; recruitment and business practices workshops; technical assistance for potential and new providers of all modalities, Medication Administration Training (MAT) required for those that administer medication to children in their program and The Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential for early childhood education professionals.New York State Training and Technical Assistance Professional Credentialed specialists are available with expertise in infants and toddlers, preschool and elementary/middle school development, care and education. Council staff provide interactive in-person professional development at Council as well as at your location (through fee for service) as requested by programs and community agencies. Topics for training, coaching, and/or technical assistance include but are not limited tio all NYS OCFS required topics for the 30 hours of mandated training; child growth and development; responding to challenging behaviors; family and community relationships; culturally responsive practice; observation and assessment; environment and curriculum; health. safety and nutrition; coping with tragedy, trauma and disasters; professionalism and leadership; administration and management; NYS OCFS regulations; national accreditation self-studies; and professional development planning. Bilingual (English/Spanish) services are available.
