Provides support and consultation services to the public libraries of Suffolk County. Not a social service agency and does not serve the public directly.
Offers a wide variety of information resources which are made available to the community. Services include Story Hour, Summer Reading Program for children, community room for public use, shut-in services, audio/visual resources, GED, and ESL classes. Large-print computer screen and keyboard, wheelchair lift and handicap accessible restroom.

Serves, supports and strengthens public libraries in Nassau County. Promotes and facilitates resource sharing and collaboration among libraries. Distributes information from governmental agencies and educational/non-profit organizations to 54 member libraries. CE and training for member library staff. Consulting services, technical and problem-solving assistance in the areas of library management and operations. Co-sponsor of the Long Island Talking Books Library (located at the Suffolk Cooperative Library System) which circulates talking books via mail to the vision impaired and others unable to read or use printed books. Hosts Senior Connections Program. No public services provided at System headquarters.

The Mid-Hudson Library System is a state cooperative agency which brings together the resources of public libraries located in Columbia, Dutchess, Greene, Putnam and Ulster Counties. MHLS is dedicated to making local libraries better while saving local tax dollars. Since 1959 MHLS has worked with its member libraries to insure the public's right to free access, economical resource sharing and professional library services. Extensive resources are available at local public libraries for early literacy development, family literacy support, job search assistance, language learning, research, recreational reading and activities.
