Provides support and information for patients with Crohn's disease or ulcerative colitis (also known as IBD or Inflammatory Bowel Disease). These include: hospital visitor, mutual help groups, physician referral service, speakers bureau and peer counseling. Serves both Nassau and Suffolk Counties.

Offers divorcing or separating couples an effective and humane alternative to the traditional adversarial process. With the help of a trained mediator, couples in mediation work out their settlement based solely on the needs of the couple and of the children. Process seeks to explore options for both the husband and wife. Areas of mediation include parenting responsibilities (access, custody, support), distribution of marital assets, spousal maintenance (alimony), and any other relevant issues. Mediation process includes an initial consultation followed a limited number of bi-weekly 1 hour - 1 1/2 hour sessions. The mediator prepares a plain-language Memorandum of Understanding which sets forth all the terms needed for divorce with the exception of legal language and signatures. Centralizes NCDA’s various community and educational outreach functions, to ensure that every school district, senior center, neighborhood watch, group home, and faith-based institution receives access to NCDA’s rich variety of presentations and programming. The Office of CORE Services is charged with bringing NCDA’s family, victim, community and educational services to every corner of Nassau County, and centralizing NCDA’s victims’ services response office wide. CORE's school-based and youth programming brings together educators, parents, and children of all ages from elementary through high school, to raise awareness about the challenges impacting our County’s young people. Our comprehensive approach includes programming that reaches directly into Nassau’s public and private school districts to provide information and resources for students, parents, and educators. Through this endeavor, we are committed to providing our youth with the support that they need to make good choices in their lives. Free educational programs are available for schools, nursing homes, health care agencies, social clubs and any other organization that would like to be educated on the topic of epilepsy, seizure awareness, and first aid. Free seminars on a variety of epilepsy related subjects are conducted on a monthly basis for individuals with epilepsy and their family members, caretakers and social workers or any other interested parties. Training hours are available for Medicaid Service Coordinators and CEUs for Nurses. Information and referral services are available to individuals with epilepsy.

Conducts lessons in environmental science for elementary and high school students in East Hampton, Shelter Island, Southampton, Bridgehampton and Riverhead. Lessons take place both in the classroom and in the field. Call for more information.

Provides education and prevention programs on domestic violence and sexual assault issues for schools and community groups.

Provides adult volunteer mentors to youth, both boys and girls, ages 7-14, who may be facing adversity and need additional support. Mentors and youth are matched on a one-to-one basis. They have regular contact over an extended period of time, and may engage in a wide variety of community-based, or site-based activities. The intent is to build positive and beneficial relationships that assist the youth in their development into adults. Volunteer mentors are screened, trained, and professionally supported by a designated case manager to ensure safety and to develop individualized goals based on the youth's particular needs for this relationship. Provides a speakers bureau presenting topics on Mentoring, Risk Management, recruitment for volunteers and Big Brothers Big Sisters.

Northeast Regional Epilepsy Group provides comprehensive care to children and adults with with epilepsy using diagnostic procedures and treatment.

Protects hiking trails on Long Island. Also leads guided hikes for all ages and abilities, and historical tours on Saturdays in the Blydenburgh County Park. Offers a speakers bureau on topics including: hiking, nature, and exercise. Produces newsletter. Call for information and schedule.

Division of Employment and Workforce Solutions offices offer many DOL programs in a single location - including career related assistance and services for employers. Staff at these centers have been cross-trained in Department services so they can address more completely the needs of employers and job seekers. The Division of Employment Services works with the public and private sectors to create job opportunities, offer job fairs, help workers find a job, and help businesses find skilled workers. The hospital also offers health and wellness events, support groups and other programs to help meet the needs of our community. As part of our Speakers Bureau, our professional and medical staff speak for free on a variety of health and wellness topics at locations including churches, community centers, senior centers and civic groups.
