Provides emergency shelter for men who are homeless in Nassau County. Majority of beds require authorization from the Nassau County Department of Social Services. A limited number of short term beds are available for men who are denied shelter through DSS and have a plan to secure housing. Speakers Bureau available. Call for information.

Comprised of health professionals who will speak about various health-related topics. Available for community organizations, schools and school groups, church/temple groups, senior groups, and professional associations.
Provides employees in Nassau County departments, clients, and employees in community-based treatment agencies, as well as students, teachers, parents, and the general public educational programs. Trainers are experienced, knowledgeable, and available to provide information on chemical abuse and many health-related issues. Training services vary according to the audience and the topic. For elementary through high school grades, activities include assembly programs, teacher in-service training, and presentations at parent-teacher association (PTA) meetings. Program series can also be arranged on an individual basis at the request of a school district or for college presentations. Information is shared with the general public through public health fairs, distribution of literature, and in response to special requests. For chemical dependency professionals, a training calendar is distributed monthly via email. Call if you have any questions or want to discuss training needs. Offers divorcing or separating couples an effective and humane alternative to the traditional adversarial process. With the help of a trained mediator, couples in mediation work out their settlement based solely on the needs of the couple and of the children. Process seeks to explore options for both the husband and wife. Areas of mediation include parenting responsibilities (access, custody, support), distribution of marital assets, spousal maintenance (alimony), and any other relevant issues. Mediation process includes an initial consultation followed a limited number of bi-weekly 1 hour - 1 1/2 hour sessions. The mediator prepares a plain-language Memorandum of Understanding which sets forth all the terms needed for divorce with the exception of legal language and signatures. The couple may then submit the memorandum to their attorneys, or neutral attorney. Call. Appointment required.
