To create a culture of literacy in which all children have early, frequent and pleasurable experiences with books, together with a loved one, as part of everyday family life.

THIS IS A VOLUNTEER/DONATIONS PROGRAM. Those needing school supplies or holiday gifts should contact their child's school nurse or social worker.Volunteer effort to benefit needy elementary school children in Tompkins County and surrounding areas with clothing, school supplies and toys.Members of the Cornell community and the general public can participate in either or both Elf programs: winter holiday: children in greatest need are identified by their schools. Profile sheets about each child are distributed to individuals, families or groups who purchase, wrap and deliver gifts to the child's school. To protect the families' anonymity, the school arranges for distributing the gits. backpack: new backpacks and school supplies from a list are purchased during the summer. Filled backpacks are delivered to schools before school starts.To help the Elves: become a sponsor and purchase items for the programs donate by sending a check to The Elves c/o Bill Alberta, 751 Elm Street Ext.Ithaca, NY 14850. All donations go directly toward buying items for the program.

Pet owners receiving support/social services, or leaving a domestic violence situation, veteran or active military duty, victim of house-fire or other disaster and working with the Red Cross.* Offers a variety of humane education programs that include lessons and activities that foster an appreciation for animal companions.* Lost and found pet listings, holds stray pets.* Provides pet food on an emergency basis if stocked from donations* Offers a Pet Behavior Help Line volunteers respond within 24 hours.* Provides dog and cat food to local food cupboards.* Provides low cost spay/neuter services for feral (stray, un-owned, non-domesticated) cats.

Offers monthly distribution of emergency supply of diapers (all sizes), pull-ups (all sizes), wipes, diapers, rash creams, shampoo, baby body wash and support.

Sign-ups for Broome County Toys for Tots will start on Monday December 2nd and will end Saturday December 14th The Broome County Toys for Tots headquarters is open Monday - Friday from 9am-12pm and 1pm-4pm and Saturdays from 9am-12pm. we will also have extended hours for sign ups on Wednesday December 4th and December 11th from 5:00pm until 8:00pm.Donations can be dropped off during the hours of operation until Tuesday, December 19th. Drop off barrels are located at the Binghamton Police Department, Broome County Sheriff's Office, Endicott Police Department, Johnson City Police Department, and the Vestal Police Department. As well as barrels throughout Broome County.In order to sign up for Broome County Toys for Tots, you must provide the following documents and meet the following criteria:1) Must be a Broome County Resident and provide documentation to prove address2) Must provide Birth Certificates for all children3) If you are not the parent, you must provide family court custody documents 4) Must show Photo identification5) Children must be between the ages of 1-10 years (No infants)IF YOU HAVE SIGNED UP AT THE SALVATION ARMY OR CATHOLIC CHARITIES, YOU CANNOT SIGN UP AT THIS LOCATON

Provides summer resident camp open to all girls (entering 2nd-12th grade) at Amahami Outdoor Center near Deposit. Wide range of activities such as swimming, boating, hiking, horseback riding, adventure challenges, outdoor cooking, environmental education, arts and crafts. Housing in tents and/or cabins. Camperships available.

Offers information, education and referral about adaptive equipment, accessibility, disability awareness, ramps and home modifications, medical equipment for loan, and civil rights for people with disabilities.

Anyone in need of a winter coat may stop by the offices Mon-Fri 8am - 4:30pm throughout the month of November to pick out a coat.Accepts coat donations October 4th - November 4th

Provides support for those facing unplanned pregnancies as well as new and/or expectant moms and dads. Offers free pregnancy testing as well as referrals for free on-site first trimester ultrasounds with a licensed physician. Emergency diaper program: provides diapers twice/yr to anyone in need.Some emergency baby supplies provided for families affected by disaster or extenuating circumstances.

Provides counseling, legal advocacy, support groups, family court petitions, crime victim compensation claims, advocacy, referrals and more.

Operates an intensive summer program for low income and at-risk youth. Educates High School students on Microsoft Office, including writing resume and preparing spreadsheets, designing and presenting powerpoint presentations, collaboration between program participants in website design and coding. Provides students with a laptop at the end of the program. Accepts donations of computers, Pentium IV or better, are accepted.

Provides City of Rensselaer low-income residents with clothing grants as well as new mothers with grants for baby clothing, wipes and a large basket of new clothing and supplies.

Offers books to the community to promote literacy program and encourage children and adults to read. Collaborates with local schools, agencies and organizations to distribute books. Accepts gently used books from individual donors and community collection drives.

A reuse facility located on the Broome County Landfill property open during the same operating hours. Accepts reusable construction materials from individuals, builders, remodelers and contractors.

Program offers assistance, information, education and referral about benefits, housing, nursing home advocacy and diversion to avoid moving into a nursing home, respite services for care givers, consumer-directed personal services, traumatic brain injury services, and a personal care bank for toiletries and supplies for families in need.

Provides a residence for individuals with irreversible illness who are within the last three months of their lives and who can no longer safely remain at home, or an alternative for those who do not want to spend their final days in a hospital or nursing home setting. Offers a focus on quality of life through holistic hospice care addressing the resident's physical, spiritual, emotional, and social needs.

Accepts donations of personal supplies and household items the residents.
