* Provides disaster assistance which is financial or direct assistance to individuals and families whose property has been damaged or destroyed as a result of a federally-declared disaster, and whose losses are not covered by insurance. * Provides disaster survivor resources. * Offers disaster recovery centers where individuals or families can go to for information about FEMA or other programs. * Offers a service in which individuals who have been denied assistance the ability to appeal the decision. Appeals must be made in writing and sent by mail or fax within 60 days of receiving the letter.

Provides support to build, sustain, and improve the nation's capability to prepare for, protect against, respond to, recover from, and mitigate all hazards.

For areas declared disaster areas, there may be grants for basic home repairs and/or rental assistance; low interest loans for renters, homeowners, and businesses; and grants for serious disaster-related needs and expenses such as appliances and furniture.
