Insures the ongoing revitalization of the Bay Shore, Brentwood, and Central Islip downtowns. Their goals are to encourage merchants to renovate their storefronts, attract new business, strengthen existing business, and to create a pleasant atmosphere for shoppers.

Serves as a vehicle for private funding of business and industry by providing long term secured financing for plant, equipment and working capital to create employment and perpetuate business activity in the entire state including fixed rate loans.

Improves substandard living conditions and revitalizes commercial centers, establishes programs to provide employment training and to prevent and treat problems of the disadvantaged, advises town government on policies for new and improved services, and facilities, and manages and coordinates homesteading and other federal and state housing programs.

Coordinates critical services and information to promote sustainable growth, expand the tax base, and preserve and improve the overall quality of life in Nassau County. The Economic Development Goals of the Office of Economic Development include: Expand the tax base; Attract employers offering high-wage jobs; Improve housing options by promoting smart-growth, sustainable, and transit-oriented developments (TODs); Invest in public infrastructure to support development (mass transit, roads, utilities); Partner with municipalities and community groups to help implement local visioning plans; Increase opportunities for minority and women-owned businesses and historically disadvantaged business enterprises (MWBE & DBE) and Coordinate with public agencies & the private sector. The Downtown Ithaca Alliance serves the stakeholders in the 22 blocks of Downtown by providing a variety of programs and activities focused on obtaining a healthy and viable Downtown.

Offers programs and services to Implement the Connect Long Island Regional Transportation and Development Plan; Foster thriving and attractive communities that offer a diversified range of housing choices to empower all current and future residents with the ability to remain in Suffolk County; Promote alternative transit options, pedestrian and bicyclist infrastructure to reduce dependence on single-occupancy vehicles; Collaborate with the public on regional economic development projects and solicit input and feedback; Help downtowns and individual projects realize their placemaking potential by providing cultural/art grants and technical assistance through our Office of Cultural Affairs and Help towns, villages and community organizations expand their efforts to enhance their downtowns, attract visitors and shoppers into the area and stimulate economic activity through our Downtown Revitalization Grant Program.
