Maintains the Mt. Sinai Harbor Marine Sanctuary and Visitors Center where shellfish farming is undertaken.

Vanderbilt II, including his passion for marine life, natural history and the study of other cultures. Also provides information about astronomy through daily planetarium presentations. Offers collection of minerals, fossils, butterflies, moths, and seashells as well as local historical materials. Educational programs in the sciences are offered for school and scout groups in house or as outreach programs.
