Collects, preserves, and exhibits objects and documents about the whaling industry and whale conservation today and about Cold Spring Harbor and Long Island maritime history for its diverse public and school/group visitors. There are self-guided tours on tapes for French, German, Italian, and Spanish speakers. Provides a Speakers Bureau which presents on topics dealing with maritime history, whaling, biology, marine mammals, and other related topics. Publishes newsletter titled A Whaling Account.
