Substance Use Services & Harm Reduction Center at Evergreen Health

Provides the following services, conforming to a harm reduction model of care: - Substance Use Counseling: Creates an action plan to support recovery and provides linkage to providers that will help achieve recovery goals. - Narcan Overdose Reversal Training: Takes less than 10 minutes and provides a free Narcan kit. - Syringe Service Program: Our walk-in syringe service centers and mobile syringe service program offer clean needles and injection tools, overdose prevention training, and safer injection counseling with healthcare professionals and certified peers. - Individual & Group Support: Provides linkage to treatment and other services, along with overdose follow-up and prevention.

Expanded Syringe Access Program (ESAP) - ECDOH

Persons who are age 18 years or older may legally obtain and possess hypodermic needles and syringes through ESAP without a medical prescription. Licensed pharmacies, health care facilities, and health care practitioners who can otherwise prescribe hypodermic needles or syringes may register with the New York State Department of Health to sell or furnish up to 10 hypodermic needles or syringes to persons 18 years of age or older at no cost. Used needles or syringes can be safely and anonymously disposed of at dedicated disposal kiosks throughout Erie County; see separate listing, Needle Disposal - ECDOH, for details. The Erie County Department of Health (ECDOH) is a distribution site for limited free medical supplies, such as syringes, band aids, cotton, alcohol wipes, etc. for Erie County residents.

OPIOID OVERDOSE PREVENTION PROGRAM | NEW YORK STATE DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH AIDS INSTITUTE

* Links to over 700 registered opioid overdose prevention programs throughout NYS provide free training and furnish free or with health insurance - low costs- naloxone kits to the community.

* Offers Opioid Overdose Program Directory: www.health.ny.gov/diseases/aids/general/resources/oop_directory/index.htm.

* Offers Naloxone Co-payment Assistance Program (N-CAP), an important pharmacy benefit for all New Yorkers who have prescription coverage through their health insurance plans. Co-payments for naloxone in an amount up to $40 for each prescription dispensed will be billed to N-CAP, not to the individual getting naloxone.
  • Naloxone, the drug that reverses overdoses from opioids such as heroin and many prescribed pain relief medications, is now available in more than 2,600 pharmacies throughout New York State. Individuals who are themselves at risk for an overdose or their family members or friends may acquire naloxone in these pharmacies without bringing in a prescription.
