The Methadone Maintenance Treatment Program (MMTP) at Whitney Young plays a pivotal role in stabilizing the lives of patients and decreasing heroin and non-narcotic drug use, decreasing the negative impact of illegal behaviors to obtain drugs, reducing behaviors associated with risk of exposure to and spread of HIV and other infectious disease such as Hepatitis C, and improving the effective use of health services and overall health outlook, social productivity and employability.
