Westbrook Preparatory School is the first residential New York State Regents junior/senior high school for students with Asperger syndrome, high functioning autism and related conditions who require intensive support in a year-round school setting. Offers a therapeutic, residential experience integrated with an academic program individually attuned to each student’s unique strengths and challenges. Teaches independence while preparing them for post-secondary education, employment and life in the community. Day students may be referred by their school districts.

Provides short-term inpatient rehabilitation, including physical, occupational and speech therapy, for individuals requiring extra care after hospitalization due to surgery, illness, injury or disability.

Offer year round recreational activities for developmentally disabled adults residing in the Town of Brookhaven. Programs include Saturday bowling, dances, exercise classes, movie nights, bingo nights, walking program and mini golf days. A program for children ages 5-11 years of age is offered for six weeks starting immediately after schools release for summer vacation. Activities include arts and crafts, swimming, physical education, games and field trips.

HorseAbility offers a variety of Equine Assisted Services for therapy, recreation, sport, education and/or wellness. Qualified instructors develop lesson plans that may involve riding, driving, or ground-based activities (e.g., grooming, handling, leading, observing). Through these activities participants can attain individualized horsemanship skills, and allow for the natural benefits of working with horses. No formal diagnosis is required for participation in our riding programs. HorseAbility’s lessons are open to all riders of any ability aged 3-adult.

Provides a year round overnight recreation, social service and rehabilitation program for blind and visually impaired teens (18+), adults, and senior citizens and families with one or more members of any age who are visually impaired. GAP offers a variety of recreational experiences in an atmosphere of acceptance and friendship. Activities are varied but usually include arts and crafts, sports, table games, music time and dancing. Frequent trips are also scheduled. GAP participants have attended plays, sports events, restaurants, museums, farms, and special children shows. GAP offers a variety of fall, winter, spring, evening and weekend programs. It also offers summer programs, including a six week summer camp. A social model adult day program providing individualized attention and small group activities for late stage Alzheimer patients in a safe, supportive and enjoyable environment while providing respite for caregivers.

Provides evaluation and treatment from injury or surgery through physical, occupational, speech/language and lymphedema therapy, included is cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation and other condition-specific rehabilitation.

Offers a variety of therapeutic activities for people with developmentally disabilities, including music therapy, creative arts, adapted aquatics and sports, life skills, nutrition awareness, Special Olympic training, story-telling and instrumental lessons. Also provides aquatic physical therapy and traumatic brain injury fitness plans.
