Provides crisis counseling, individual/group/family therapy, psychiatric assessments, medication therapy, and case management to children, youth and adults to prevent family decomposition and hospitalization.

Provides an array of housing alternatives and staff supports to people with a diagnosed mental illness. The rehabilitativehousing program allows residents with a diagnosis of both mental health and substance use disorders gain the skills needed to manage their psychiatric symptoms, maintain their sobriety and perform daily activities needed to live independently. Services include assertiveness/self-advocacy training, community integration, daily living skills, health services, medication management, parent training rehabilitative counseling, skills development, socialization, substance abuse services and symptom management. The independent housing programs offer financial assistance, case management and staff supports to allow people to maintain permanent housing in the community.

Children who live in residence attend special education school at the Community Rehabilitation Center.

Provides inpatient units including a medical-psychiatric unit and an acute stabilization unit for adults, adolescents and children. PROS is a comprehensive recovery oriented program for adult individuals with the goal of integrating treatment, support and rehabilitation in a manner that facilitates the individual’s recovery.

Operates a Single Point of Access (SPOA) which is a centralized intake process for referrals for high-intensity mental health services for adults who have been diagnosed with a serious mental illness (SMI) and whose illness interferes with their ability to function in the community, home, school, and/or work. Provides preventive services for teenagers showing early signs of psychological disturbance. Offers comprehensive evaluations and appropriate treatments from a range of programs for teenagers. Offers family support services. Conducts educational programs for school personnel on early warning signs of impending illness.

Provides short term placement (up to 14 days) of children and adolescents who are in mental health crisis requiring a temporary out-of-home placement.

Provides an 23 bed acute psychiatric unit certified by the New York State Department of Health and the Office for Mental Health. It is affiliated with the University Hospital at Stony Brook, Department of Psychiatry. The unit serves mentally ill patients as well as mentally ill, chemically addicted (MICA) patients. Its interdisciplinary approach includes board certified psychiatrists, psychiatric nurses, clinical social workers, recreation therapists, and registered dietitians. It provides 24 hour nursing care by a team of psychiatric nurses and nursing assistants. The center follows a structured approach to allow for individual treatment. Therapies include medication management, individual and group therapy, family counseling and electro-convulsive therapy (ECT). Outpatient psychiatry is offered at 300 Atlantic Avenue, Greenport.

NYP outpatient services allow women to receive psychotherapy service and medication management while remaining in the community.

Provides treatment for a diverse mix of acute behavioral, emotional, and substance abuse problems. All treatments begin with a comprehensive assessment, including psychiatric, physical, and psychosocial components. Treatment is based on a proved behavior modification system and therapeutic rehabilitation for lasting results.

Provides outpatient and inpatient psychiatric services for individuals struggling with mental or emotional illness, through a team of psychiatrists, social workers, alcohol/drug abuse counselors, art and occupational therapists.

Provides acute, intense, short-term, inpatient psychiatric treatment to adolescents ages 12-17. Aims to achieve rapid stabilization to make possible ongoing treatment in a less restrictive setting. Offers a drop-in center that provides opportunities for social integration, relaxation, recreation, and skill development. Programs are peer run, which include activities such as healing meditation, movie day, poetry, arts & crafts, cooking, cleaning, using public transportation, computer skills, communication development, and learning problem solving techniques.

Offers a residential treatment facility for adolescents with emotional disturbance, learning disabilities or behavior which necessitates a residential treatment and school.

Provides a number of support services for those with mental illness, including case management, transportation for mental health-related appointments, also has social/drop-in centers to socialize, network, build life skills and have fun.

Primarily a family support and advocacy organization, FAMH strives to expand opportunities and improve the quality of life for all people with mental illness. FAMH provides referrals, education, and mutual support for families as well as social, recreational, and educational opportunities for consumers of mental health services. FAMH also strives through public education, to eradicate the stigma associated with mental illness.
