Volunteers are the backbone of the YMCA. At all levels, volunteers contribute valuable resources of knowledge and talents to help our association carry out its mission. Offers a program for someone who has been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, dementia, Parkinson’s, or another degenerative illness. "Our Space" is a social model of adult day services established in 1987 for Nassau County residents over the age of 60 who are frail and memory impaired. Caregivers are provided with respite, education and support. All programs require an assessment to ensure proper placement. Volunteer opportunities are also available. Provides youth (5 yrs - 19 yrs) in Delaware County with educational programs, experiences and resources designed to enable them to develop knowledge, skills, abilities, attitudes and behaviors to become competent, caring adults.Offers a 4-H summer camp program. Housing Program: Volunteers to work with residents, help with recreational activities, arts and crafts, tutoring for those enrolled in academic programs. Provides a safe environment for young people to focus on academic success, healthy lifestyles and good character/citizenship. Members rotate every 45 minutes through each area (homework room, gym/outdoors, social games, dining area, etc.). Services include dinner each evening, homework help, daily education and recreational activities.

Provides volunteer opportunities to be mentors for the girls or to help with various activities. Opportunities also exist to work with adults, helping them learn about the Girl Scouts, and how to implement programs, also to do committee work.

Provides a walkway from an old railroad bridge transformed into a park and walkway providing public access for pedestrians, hikers, joggers, bicyclists, and people with disabilities to the Hudson River's scenic landscape. The bridge serves as a connector to an extensive network of rail trails on both sides of the river.

Offers anyone who would like to volunteer to help with recreation activities for the disabled in tennis or in the creative arts. Also accepts monetary donations to add to the scholarship fund.

Offers the opportunity for individuals to volunteer for a variety of activities, such as helping with and not limited to sports, wellness/movement, or creative art programs, and chaperoning social or special events. Offers clinical, operational or administrative volunteer opportunities. Volunteers are asked to make a commitment of 50 hours over a period of three months, whether as a learning opportunity for students or merely as a way of giving back to one's community. Clinical assignments in our residential and community-based programs may include participation in our recreational program, agency-sponsored events and leisure and relaxation therapy. Volunteers also provide one-to-one attention to our program participants, such as reading a book, taking a person for a walk, or simply serving as a "big brother or big sister." A volunteer is selected on the basis of individual interest, skill, and experience.
