Our volunteer services program is a participant in the federal Senior Corps and RSVP. Both connect today's 55+ population with agencies that need volunteers the most. The program offers a full range of volunteer opportunities local organizations. Volunteers provide independent living services such as delivering meals and transportation to the homebound, and serve their communities in many other ways. You choose whether you want to draw on your skills or develop new ones. In short, you find the opportunity thats right for you. Volunteers choose how, where, and how often they want to serve, with commitments ranging from a few hours to 40 hours per week.

Tutoring Volunteer Opportunities
Delivers meals, Mon-Fri, to home bound older residents in the community. Recruits volunteers to deliver meals 1 hour per week from 11:00 am-1:00 pm. Volunteers can work alone or in teams. Children and teenagers can volunteer, but must work with an adult.
Home delivered meals are available to seniors unable to get to the dining centers. Transportation is also provided to the dining centers, shopping assistance, information and referral services, and recreational activities. Meals are delivered Monday through Friday by volunteers who check on participants each day. Meals on Wheels volunteers are needed to deliver meals once a week, Monday - Friday, between 11am and 1pm. You can sign up to be a driver, visitor, or both. Routes are available in various locations throughout Broome County including Binghamton, Chenango Bridge, Conklin/Kirkwood, Harpursville and Whitney Point. Volunteer drivers receive a mileage reimbursement.NOTE: (For service to Endicott, Johnson City, Town of Union, Vestal, and Maine, see Meals on Wheels of Western Broome.)

Free training is provided as necessary. Many of the above volunteering options are suitable for students who need to fulfill school and/or house-of-worship community service requirements, particularly our OFA Picnics and other OFA events.

Thanksgiving Programs
Delivers meals to the homes of families and individuals in need of food assistance on the North Shore peninsula of Long Island, in the towns of Bayville, Glen Cove, Roslyn, Locust Valley and Sea Cliff. NOSH Bags are emergency meal kits containing the ingredients to prepare two meals for a family of four. Larger families receive additional NOSH Bags. Provides food ingredients that are fresh and nutritious. Also provides North Shore residents with a walk-in food pantry where they can select their groceries.
