Volunteers do variety of tasks from cleaning, cooking, and gardening to offering listening ear. Volunteers staff house during one or more shifts (9:00 am - Noon; Noon - 3:00 pm; 3:00 pm - 6:00 pm; 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm any day of week). Volunteers answer phones, help out with light cleaning such as load the dishwasher, show guest the house, and help guest get settled.

Helps women and young girls experiencing an unexpected pregnancy. Offers alternative to abortion and referrals for medical care, diapers, formula, maternity clothes and baby clothing. Offers pregnancy self-test. All services are free and confidential.

Administers the Urgent Rx Program. Uninsured patients are identified for vouchers for generic medicine from a formulary. Vouchers provided at the Ithaca Free ClinicVouchers are for acute conditions and medications for no more than fourteen (14) days.If an individual DOES NOT receive an Urgent Rx voucher with his/her prescriptions at the time of discharge, he or she must contact the location which issued the prescriptions to verify that the medications are covered by Urgent Rx.Prescriptions can be filled ONLY in Tompkins County at specific pharmacies listed on the voucher.Medications for chronic conditions, e.g., diabetes, asthma, cancer, heart conditions, are not covered.NOTE TO CALL SPECIALISTS: If a caller needs help in obtaining medication for chronic conditions, refer him/her to the Community Health Advocates Program of the Human Services Coalition or to Needymeds.org or Rx Outreach.

All volunteers complete a mandatory 20-hour training program. Patient care volunteers help patients and families with household chores, shopping, transportation, and companionship. This is done in the patient's home setting, whatever that may be. Patient care volunteers are also utilized in our 6-bed residence to help prepare and serve meals and to provide companionship.Specially trained and/or professional volunteers also support bereaved families, play music, give massages, and provide pet visits. Provides a safe environment for young people to focus on academic success, healthy lifestyles and good character/citizenship. Members rotate every 45 minutes through each area (homework room, gym/outdoors, social games, dining area, etc.). Services include dinner each evening, homework help, daily education and recreational activities.

Provides social work, advocacy, support systems, information services, family training and counseling regarding consumer's disabilities

Sells fabric, yarn, sewing, fiber, and needlecraft supplies, as well as some upcycled/recycled clothing and local fiber crafts. Merchandise is primarily donated by community members or on consignment from local fiber artisans. Proceeds benefit the SewGreen Art Room classroom and its programs for children, teens, and adults.

Offers volunteers a variety of opportunities of outdoor education and recreation, such as teaching, help at specific events, trail maintenance, gardening, exhibit construction, receptionist for 2-hr shift on occasional Saturday, snowplow parking lot, assembly bi-monthly newsletter, and other projects at five sites. Volunteers <18 yrs must be accompanied by parent or adult, on case-by-case approval.

Provides City of Rensselaer low-income residents with clothing grants as well as new mothers with grants for baby clothing, wipes and a large basket of new clothing and supplies.

Oversees volunteer program and youth community service projects in Broome County, coordination of Blood Services volunteers and community presentations on preparedness. Volunteer opportunities range from helping at blood drives to office assistance. Also opportunities to work in disaster relief, youth services, health/safety education.
