The council provides an opportunity for Mount Vernonâs youth to participate in city government and the community. It also provides an opportunity for these young people to have their voices heard and become involved in the planning and implementation of projects that enhance the city.
Provides informal education opportunities in areas of home economics, citizenship, public speaking and STEM. Youth (5-19 yrs) develop basic life skills which will assist them in reaching their potential as contributing members of society.

This program provides a variety of organized activities for children and adolescents in the community. The 4-H club provides leadership development, life skills, science and technology, rocketry, community service, horse care and management, dairy production, animal care, crafts, creative skills, citizenship and much more.
