HALos collaborates with educators, community leaders, mental health and healthcare professionals. Receives referrals from the local public school systems, and collaborate with Broome Chenango Canine Help Group. This organization provides registered therapy dogs to families when needed. Opportunity to pet, touch, and talk to these therapy dogs has proven beneficial to some individuals.

Provides professional support, education, information and resources to bereaved in the community via support groups for adults, children and teens. Memorial services, referrals, community education counseling and community crisis intervention are also provided.

Provides a support for individuals who are grieving over the loss of a pet.

* Provides a mutual support group for those who have lost a loved one to homicide.* Provides wraparound services for victims of violence, not including Domestic Violence, with a referral from the City of Rochester Crisis Services or Pathways to Peace.

Provides a support group for individuals coping with the loss of a loved one. Offers an evening or day group as well as one-to-one support as needed.

* Works closely with support group facilitators, first responders, clergy members, mental health professionals and others in the community, to help survivors cope with their loss, their pain, their questions and their journey of healing.
* Alerts public officials, legislators and national and community leaders to important suicide research and prevention initiatives and is a strong advocate for the needs and goals of the survivor community.

Assists families toward the positive resolution of grief following the death of a child of any age and provides information to help others be supportive. Local support groups available.

Offers a bereavement group for people who have lost a child, grandchild, or sibling.

Offers support groups and programs for new and expectant parents. These programs include: Breastfeeding, free support group, online breastfeeding and prenatal classes through Baby University; NICU Sibling; NICU Family Connection—weekly knitting and other therapeutic activities; Monthly family and sibling tour of Katz Women’s Hospital; Tender Loving Care (TLC) Foundation Chapter, NICU Family and Pregnancy and early infant bereavement. Program offers specially trained counselors, clinical social workers and volunteers who have a unique expertise in all aspects of bereavement. Individuals can participate in support groups, crisis intervention/bereavement program or individual support sessions.

Mental health professionals trained in Critical Incident Stress Debriefing with a specialty in suicide respond to calls and responses are made in home usually within less that 24 hours. Also responds to businesses and schools touched by suicide. In addition Joe's Project has a team of trained volunteers who have previously lost a loved one to suicide to work with families and run support groups. Provides individual, family, and group counseling, as well as support to organizations and communities affected by the loss of someone who died by suicide. Upon request, FSL’s trained professional staff will visit your home, school, business, or another location of your choosing to help you walk through the excruciating days and weeks that follow your loss. If you prefer to wait, assistance from a Joe’s Project counselor may be arranged anytime you feel ready. May also provide or recommend resources for follow up counseling, support groups, and referrals for additional services.

Offers supervised meetings where you can share similar experiences in a comfortable, caring setting. Depending on your needs, some health care support groups assist with specific conditions and issues, while others are more general in nature. Some of our support groups include: Bereavement Support Group; Breast Cancer Support Group; Breastfeeding Support Group; Cancer Family Support Groups; Caregiver Support Group; Diabetes Support Group; Dialysis Support Group; Gastric Sleeve Support Group; Prostate Cancer Support Group and Stroke Support Group.
