Offers high school students a non-credit, state-certified Driver and Traffic Safety Education program. Those who successfully complete the course will receive the MV-285 Student Certificate Completion issued by the NYS Department of Motor Vehicles. The MV-285 allows students with a NYS Junior Permit to schedule a road test, receive their senior license at the age of 17 instead of 18, and may be eligible for a rate reduction in their automobile insurance. This program consists of 25.5 hours of classroom instruction and 25.5 hours of behind the wheel training and observation. Effective July 1, this course will be offered in-person, on the Ammerman Campus in Selden. Please note that XDT100 and XDT200 are corequisites and must be taken together and successfully completed to obtain the MV-285. Workforce Development offers non-credit courses to help individuals meet their career goals in areas such as Emergency Medical Technician; Advanced Emergency Medical Technician; Commercial Drone Piloting; Pharmacy Technician; Sterile Processing Technician; Landscape Design, Installation, and Management; Floral Design; Cannabis Cultivation; Retail Cannabis; and Cannabis Processing. A CDL Program is available on-site through 160 Driving Academy. In addition to career focused programs, Workforce Development offers skill courses to individuals in areas such as Basic Life Support, Notary Public, Driving Education, and Motorcycle Training. Customized Training is offered to companies in areas such as Adobe; Excel; Outlook; Communication and Leadership; Budgeting and Finance; First Aid, CPR, and AED; and a variety of OSHA mandated topics. There is a wide variety of topics that can be covered in customized training; all offerings are not listed here.

These Defensive Driving courses are approved by the NYS Department of Motor Vehicles as a course provider under the Point and Insurance Reduction Program (PIRP). Drivers may be eligible to reduce as many as 4 points on your driving record. Principal owners of a vehicle until receive a miminimum of 10% reduction in the base rate of your auto or motor cycle liability and collision insurance premiums for 3 years.
