All vehicles are fully equipped with adaptive driving equipment for those with physical limitations. The service is available to all school districts, as well as state and private rehabilitation programs and those with a physician’s referral. This course is designated as the Regional Adaptive Driver Training Program of Suffolk County for the Handicapped by the Office of Adult Career and Continuing Education Services – Vocational Rehabilitation.

The MV-285 allows students with a NYS Junior Permit to schedule a road test, receive their senior license at the age of 17 instead of 18, and may be eligible for a rate reduction in their automobile insurance. This program consists of 25.5 hours of classroom instruction and 25.5 hours of behind the wheel training and observation. Effective July 1, this course will be offered in-person, on the Ammerman Campus in Selden. Please note that XDT100 and XDT200 are corequisites and must be taken together and successfully completed to obtain the MV-285.
