Offers a camp that is structured to meet the needs of dancers who desire exposure to a variety of dance styles, including jazz, pom, and hip-hop, with an emphasis on style, technical execution, flexibility, jumps, turns and performance. All dancers are evaluated by the staff and assigned to a level based on experience and skill. Instructors work hard to meet each campers’ individual needs. Teams are also welcome, as it is a great opportunity to work on routine building for the upcoming season. The camp utilizes the University’s state-of-the-art, air-conditioned facilities. Each camper should wear daily: cotton T-shirt, athletic shorts, and sneakers. Campers must also bring a water bottle. Bathing suit and towel will be needed on assigned swim days. An inclusionary therapeutic dance/movement program for individuals with developmental, physical, and intellectual disabilities. Instructors and qualified volunteer dance partners work with students in a dance studio studying technical and adaptive forms of classical and contemporary dance styles (tap, jazz, ballet, hip hop, creative movement). Innovative non-ambulatory program for dancers in wheelchairs. Day hab classes available for adults enrolled in area day treatment and day hab programs. Annual dance recital held in May. Provides sessions in a safe, non-threatening environment for individuals to grow and develop their personal potential. Instruction focuses on the fundamentals of movement, expanding each individual's natural kinesthetic repertoire and studying a dance style in modified or technical form. The season culminates in an annual May production featuring dancers accompanied by a supporting cast of high school and college interns.
