Offers a variety of dance classes for all skill levels and all ages in ballet, tap, jazz, modern, rhythm, aerial silks, and hip-hop, including a summer dance camp, with classes culminating in seasonal performances.
The Center provides a wide array of classes in dance, music, fitness/wellness, theater, spoken word, computer arts technology and the visual arts. These classes are offered after school, evenings and weekends at our main site in midtown Kingston. A homework and tutoring center is also available. Programs include S.P.I.C.E, a year round project for low income women and their children (provides childcare at the center if needed to participate) with a special focus on women of color.

Offers campers in grades 3-9 a dance camp that is comprehensive, offering beginners a complete foundation, whilst enabling experienced dancers the opportunity to fine tune techniques and explore new disciplines. Whether you are new to dance or are in the studio year round, our experienced instructors will help build confidence and performance abilities. Our dance camp focuses on stretching, flexibility, technique, grace, strength & agility, and rhythm & tempo, through dance styles such as Jazz, Funk, Hip Hop, Modern, Ballet, and occasionally tap. Campers will work on a choreographed routine throughout the week, culminating in an exciting performance for family and friends to attend at the end of each session. All programs run weekly from Monday to Friday and camp hours are 9:00am-4:00pm. Extended Hours are available with Early Drop-Off (8am) and Late Pick-Up (5:30pm) options. Additional charges apply. Offers an amazing public high school program that has transformed the lives of young emerging artists from across Long Island through both its high school and summer programs. LIHSA is a Career and Technical Education (CTE) program. Under New York State’s “4+1” pathway assessment option, students must take and pass four required Regents Exams or Department Approved Alternative assessments and complete a comparably rigorous pathway to meet the fifth assessment requirement for graduation. Students can now do this with completion of the Career and Technical Education-approved exam and the core sequence of classes at LIHSA. Courses are offered in Performing Arts; Visual & Digital Arts; Scenic Construction & Production Technologies; Sonic Arts; Game Design; Multimedia Journalism; 3D Animation and Expressive Arts and Human Development. Call LIHSA for admissions requirements. In addition to classes for students LIHSA’s campus is available for rental space. Our 38,000 square feet of studios and workshops across three buildings are filled with professional workspaces and facilities. We have four dance studios on campus, a larger theatre that holds 350 audience members with lighting and sound equipment, two smaller black box theatres, a recording studio, numerous classroom spaces, practice rooms, art studios, film editing room, darkroom, digital music space and a carpentry shop for scenic design. Dance: Provides the joy of dancing through the use of body and rhythmic movements. Participants increase coordination, flexibility, balance, and their overall sense of well-being.Movement & Song: Encourages creative expression through active music making, sing-alongs and dance. Rhythm instruments such as tambourines, maracas, bells and triangles help create an enjoyable movement and song experience.Percussion Band: Participants sit together in a circle and play drums and other percussion instruments. The imagination of the group is sparked as they enact visions of trains, thunderstorms, etc. using their percussion instruments.Yoga: Yoga provides the tools for maximizing health by developing strength and flexibility in a gentle manner. Arts & Crafts: provides instruction and materials for various art projects.

Offers a camp that is structured to meet the needs of dancers who desire exposure to a variety of dance styles, including jazz, pom, and hip-hop, with an emphasis on style, technical execution, flexibility, jumps, turns and performance. All dancers are evaluated by the staff and assigned to a level based on experience and skill. Instructors work hard to meet each campers’ individual needs. Teams are also welcome, as it is a great opportunity to work on routine building for the upcoming season. The camp utilizes the University’s state-of-the-art, air-conditioned facilities. Each camper should wear daily: cotton T-shirt, athletic shorts, and sneakers. Campers must also bring a water bottle. Bathing suit and towel will be needed on assigned swim days.
