Offer a variety of classes for students of all ages and levels. Classes meet for one hour once a week and culminates to a performance. The Little Theatre classes is for young children to introduce the basics of acting, dance and music. The Core classes focuses on Acting Technique, Improv, Musical Theatre and Dance classes, which will help them learn the basics and master what they already know. The advanced classes are entered through a prerequisite: the basic acting curriculum 3 acting classes, 1 dance class, 1 improv class and 1 musical theatre class or summer theatre and 2 acting classes.

Located on the LIU Post Campus of Long Island University in Brookville the Center presents over 70 performances each season by world-renowned artists in music, theater and dance. Tilles Center for the Performing Arts is a prime venue for productions, performances and events. The 2,190 seat Concert Hall and 508 seat Krasnoff Theater offer wonderful sightlines and configurations for many types of events. The Concert Hall boasts a newly-installed sound system and impeccable acoustics, in addition to newly renovated seats. The Krasnoff Theater is especially prized for the intimacy and warmth for both performers and audience members. Presenting at Long Island’s premier performing arts venue on the easily accessible LIU Post campus offers many advantages for all types of renters. Discounted rental rates are available to 501 (c) (3) non-profit organizations. The Tilles Center is committed to bringing the performing arts beyond the stage and into the community by welcoming learners of all ages and abilities to experience the performing arts first hand. The Tilles Center also offers Relaxed & Sensory-Friendly Programs. The Center presents relaxed performances with modified sound and light levels, specially adapted pre-performance materials, and quiet lobby areas with sensory toys for patrons who wish to move around. These performances are “non-shushing” and provide a comfortable environment for individuals on the autism spectrum and those who may have limited movement, sensory and/or complex communication needs. Relaxed performances are open to all neurodivergent and neurotypical audiences and take place throughout the season as part of our Family Fun. In addition the Center offers Creative Aging- Dance for Parkinson’s. The Tilles Dance for Parkinson’s sessions are open to any individual with Parkinson’s disease, anyone with limited mobility, and caregivers. No previous dance experience is necessary. Offers an amazing public high school program that has transformed the lives of young emerging artists from across Long Island through both its high school and summer programs. LIHSA is a Career and Technical Education (CTE) program. Under New York State’s “4+1” pathway assessment option, students must take and pass four required Regents Exams or Department Approved Alternative assessments and complete a comparably rigorous pathway to meet the fifth assessment requirement for graduation. Students can now do this with completion of the Career and Technical Education-approved exam and the core sequence of classes at LIHSA. Courses are offered in Performing Arts; Visual & Digital Arts; Scenic Construction & Production Technologies; Sonic Arts; Game Design; Multimedia Journalism; 3D Animation and Expressive Arts and Human Development. Call LIHSA for admissions requirements. In addition to classes for students LIHSA’s campus is available for rental space. Our 38,000 square feet of studios and workshops across three buildings are filled with professional workspaces and facilities. We have four dance studios on campus, a larger theatre that holds 350 audience members with lighting and sound equipment, two smaller black box theatres, a recording studio, numerous classroom spaces, practice rooms, art studios, film editing room, darkroom, digital music space and a carpentry shop for scenic design. Offers an exciting opportunity for qualified students interested in the creative and media arts to earn up to six college credits. The program offers undergraduate courses in Music, Media, Business, Performing and Visual Arts, and is open to high school students entering grades 10, 11 or 12 as of the Fall. Students in 10th grade will take interesting college level classes they are curious about, but do not receive college credit. Students in the 11th and 12th grades can earn college credits. This five-week program provides students with an insider’s look to college life. Courses are taught by distinguished faculty and artists who provide individualized attention and are pleased to share content area expertise In small group settings. At the conclusion of the five-week program, students and family are invited to attend the culminating event, The Sights and Sounds of Summer, which showcases student performances, exhibitions, and includes a luncheon. The Summer High School Scholars is a scholarship initiative that provides a full scholarship to most students accepted into the program by the College as long as their application is submitted early.
