ADULT EDUCATION GREAT NECK SENIOR COMMUNITY SERVICE CENTER | GREAT NECK SENIOR CENTER

Provides classes which are held at the center in exercise, dancing, music, art, Mah Jong, bridge classes, current events, drama, etc. About 40 classes are offered. Call for information. Walk in. This program is partially funded by Nassau County Department of Senior Affairs as a Multi Service Senior Center.

MONTAUK BRIDGE CLUB | MONTAUK BRIDGE CLUB

Open bridge games held on Mondays at 1pm at St. Luke's Church on Main St., East Hampton and on Wednesdays at 1pm at the Montauk Library, 871 Montauk Avenue, Montauk NY. Proceeds are donated to local charities and nonprofit groups. Call for further information.

Tosh Collins Community Center

Recreation programs include gym and game room activities, pool and ping-pong tables, games, arts and crafts. Also hosts the South Buffalo Community Association senior center (see separate record). Serves as a City of Buffalo Cooling Center during times of extreme heat and as a Warming Center during times of extreme cold. Always call ahead to make sure a Cooling/Warming Center is open before going there.

JONES BEACH STATE PARK | JONES BEACH STATE PARK

Offers 6.5 miles of ocean beaches, part of a 2,413-acre park. Main attractions include swimming, surf fishing, and a 14,400-seat amphitheater. Facilities include pools, bathhouses, band shell, 2-mile boardwalk, 2-mile health walk, 4-mile bike path, boat basin, 4-finger piers, bait station, surf casting, picnic areas, 4 basketball courts, 22 shuffleboard courts, 8 volleyball courts, paddle tennis, equipment rentals, pitch-putt golf, 2 softball fields, food stands, boardwalk restaurant(new construction pending), ice cream parlor, and exhibits. Lifeguards available, hours and dates vary. Summer events include New York Air Show, a volleyball tournament, an Independence Day fireworks program, Summer Run Series and Pitch Putt Tournament. Empire Passport accepted no pets allowed. The Theodore Roosevelt Nature Center contains, interior and exterior environmental exhibits, a butterfly garden, and children activities. Public library. Offers Public Access Computers: 6 computers with networked Microsoft Office Applications, printing (10 cents per page B&W, 25 cents color), Internet Access, and public Wi-Fi. Offers programming for all ages such as preschool story time, craft programs, Lego club, Chess club and more. Library of Things available for a 7-day loan period including yard games, metal detector, radon detector, digital conversion devices, outdoor movie projector and screen and many more items. Serves as a Cooling Center for individuals during times of excessive heat. Always call ahead to make sure a Cooling Center is open before going there.

Batavia Senior Center

Provides weekly programs at the Batavia Senior Center. Some of the programs offered are bridge, line dancing, cribbage, arthritis chair-based exercise, quilters, and painting classes. New groups are always being organized. Special programs such as 55 Alive Driver Refresher Course, educational, health, and informational programs are also offered. Day trips to concerts, exhibits, musical productions, restaurants, and areas of special interest are also scheduled in the spring, summer, and fall. Senior groups and clubs exist in most areas of the county which offer luncheons and pot luck dinners. Most groups offer programs of interest, entertainment, day trips, and other recreational activities.

Jefferson Youth Center - Town of Tonawanda

Open to children ages 4-12 during non-school hours; provides adult supervision and is open most school holidays including early release days and snow days. Activities include homework help, arts and crafts, field trips, special events, and use of a billiards room, game room, lounge and computer lab. Children ages 4-6 participate in the Funland Program. JYC may be available through the Ken-Ton Transportation Department. Request form required for alternate transportation.
