Offers 769 acres of hardwood forest on the Long Island Sound. Attractions include saltwater fishing, cross-country skiing, and trailer/tent sites for campers. Facilities include beach, picnic area, softball field, hiking trails (about 11.5 miles), volleyball court, 2 basketball courts, horseshoe pits and nature trails. Activities include Fall Festival and cross-country skiing. Empire passport accepted no pets allowed. Call for further information.

GARVIES POINT MUSEUM AND PRESERVE | GARVIES POINT MUSEUM AND PRESERVE

Offers a 62-acre site set along Hempstead Harbor on the scenic North Shore, Garvies Point includes permanent exhibits and educational programs devoted to regional geology and Native-American archaeology. In addition, changing exhibits cover a variety of natural history subjects. There are about five miles of marked nature trails including trails for the visually impaired.
