Investigates reports of alleged maltreatment or abuse of children made to the NYS Child Abuse and Maltreatment Hotline.

Provides support to children and families to prevent out-of-home placement of children. Provides support and stabilization to children in foster care placement. Offers support to youth and their families to identify their strengths and needs as they work to address the symptoms of their mental health diagnosis or behavioral health needs.

Provides home-based case management services to families with children experiencing challenges that may lead to safety risks.

Offers a therapeutic, family-based prevention and intervention program that averages 12-16 sessions and is intended to improve mental health outcomes for at risk adolescents and their families. Community residence for adolescent males and females who are in need of a structured setting in the community that enables them to become involved in the responsibilities of daily living due to a serious emotional disturbance (SED).

Offers a number of professional development programs for teachers, as well as for teacher candidates. Mandatory workshops offered include: School Violence Prevention and Intervention Workshop; Training in the Identification and Reporting of Child Abuse and Neglect and Dignity For All Students (DASA) Workshop. Numerous online professional development graduate courses, certificates and summer institutes for teachers are offered. In addition; Molloy University offers a number of conferences for educators throughout the year. Courses vary each semester. Provides protective service to impaired adults living in the community with unmet needs and who have no one to assist them. Also receives and responds to all reports of children who are abused, abandoned, or neglected, and carries out the statutory mandates of protecting children and providing rehabilitative services to families.

Provides intensive home visiting services for parents who are active with DSS and have children who are identified as at-risk for or placed in foster care. Parent Aides teach basic living and parenting skills in the home setting in addition to connecting families to various community resources and supports.

Foster Care: safe, temporary placement for children unable to safely live with their own families with goal of returning children to their homes. If needed, a permanency plan can free the child for adoption, independent living or discharge to an adult residential setting.Preventive Services: after referral, conducts needs assessment, creates service plan and makes referrals to community agencies. Workers provide casework counseling, transport, mediation, crisis intervention and, sometimes, financial management.

Provides temporary care to children who are unable to remain with their family. Caseworkers provide the services and support necessary to reunite the family. If a child cannot safely to return to their family, the agency works to develop a permanent plan for the child.

Caseworkers assess multiple risk factors and the safety of the children involved to determine if the family needs assistance in order to keep their children safe.
