A program that works in collaboration with schools, which are workshops designed to build knowledge and skills of team work, communication, conflict resolution, self-esteem and diversity, so that their schools and communities are safer and more productive places for themselves and their peers. After 25-30 hours of intensive training youth develop strong relationships and a sense of community that they will carry with them for years to come. The program strives to allow young people to use their voices to express their concerns, fears and dreams within a safe environment.

Provides an after school program to promote academic support and cultural enrichment for African-American and Latino students in middle and high school. Through interactive workshops, college tutorials, and exposure to successful Latina role-models, LaTeenA provides girls with information, resources, and tools that enable them to envision a future that includes college, a career and financial security. A Man Is Not a Financial Plan - This empowering conference teaches high school girls how to manage money and inspires them to be proactive about their futures. Workshops challenge teens to differentiate between wants and needs teach girls the importance of creating a budget; and give girls the opportunity to work together in groups to imagine their own financially independent woman.

Works to promote positive intergroup relations between various groups represented in Nassau County. With a growing diverse population, this unit, as well as many of the staff, has been very active in coordinating conference seminars, and addressing positive human relations. This unit of the commission actively responds to bias incidents in all communities of the county. The Multicultural Programs provides programs concerning diversity issues and multicultural awareness for employers and community groups in Nassau County. Information regarding programs can be obtained by contacting the Community Relations Unit. The Commission on Human Rights also provides Afro-Americans cultural enrichment seminars, which have been introduced to various school districts, universities, and youth organizations in Nassau County. The Afro-American Ensemble has performed and demonstrated to many and various groups, the intricacies of African dance and music.
