Provides a resettlement agency to help refugees get connected with social services. Services may include source housing, placing children in schools, and doctors appointments and services are available up to 90 days.

New York Relay Service is a statewide service that connects standard (voice) telephone users with deaf, hard-of-hearing, deaf-blind, speech-disabled, or late-deafened people who use text telephones (TTYs) or voice carry-over (VCO) phones. This service allows TTY or VCO users to communicate with standard telephone users through specially trained Relay Operators. Calls can be made to anywhere in the world, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year with no restrictions on the number, length, or type of calls.

Provides professional sign language interpreters to meet the needs of persons with hearing impairments, whether social, medical, emergency, business, etc. Provides educational workshops to explain role of "professional interpreter" and concerns or issues related to hearing loss.We accept requests through phone, fax, email or mail. Please give as much notice as possible to allow STIC to get the most qualified interpreter available within the area. We highly suggest that you request an interpreter at least 10 days in advance. At times last minute requests and emergencies can be accommodated but due to the high volume of requests there is no guarantee.

Recruits volunteers from the Ithaca and Cornell communities to translate and interpret in emergency and non-emergency situations. Individuals proficient in English and a another language are certified by TIP to serve translators/interpreters for community agencies. Certification includes: passing certification test by a language professor attending mandatory workshop about potential emergency and cultural situations signing a confidentiality agreement protecting the privacy of client and agreeing to have their information available on the TIP website for agency useOrganizations signing an agreement with TIP can seek translators through the online database. In emergencies, the Public Service Center can be contacted for assistance during business hours.
