Allows individuals with physical disabilities or chronic illnesses to choose, hire, train, schedule, supervise and dismiss their own personal assistants. Personal assistants can be a relative, friend or neighbor. No certifications are needed. Care may include any of the services typically provided by a personal care aide, home health aide or private duty nurse, such as housekeeping, cooking, bathing, dressing or giving medications.
