Provides mental health and psychiatric medication management services for children, adolescents, and adults provided by NYS licensed therapists. Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners are available for consultation and medication management for clients enrolled in therapy. Therapists specialize in providing counseling for people experiencing depression, anxiety, trauma, eating disorders, sexual abuse, adjustment issues, family conflict, school problems, issues related to divorce, adoption, grief and loss, LGBTQ+ issues, and other mental health diagnoses. Therapists are trained in evidence-based interventions, including Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). Mental health services are also provided for adults and children who have a mental health disorder as a primary diagnosis and who may have a concurrent substance abuse disorder which is stabilized or in early remission. Collaborates with established OASAS licensed treatment providers to ensure that the mental health treatment needs of recovering substance abuse clients are met, to provide support for the clients' recovery process, and to minimize symptoms and the potential for psychiatric decompensation, psychiatric hospitalization, or relapse of substance abuse. Provides in-office and telehealth appointments--when clinically appropriate. All initial appointments must be completed in person.

Unites adoptive and foster parent groups, concerned agencies and individuals throughout the empire state. Represents the families' viewpoint and works to improve and expand the services available to children and families. By fostering communication and collaboration between families, agencies and concerned citizens, seeks to ensure the stability, well-being and permanency of all children touched by the child welfare system. Offers a statewide free Helpline designed specifically to assist foster, adoptive and kinship families, related professionals and those wanting to foster or become parents. Also supports and coordinates volunteer and agency-led parent support groups for foster, adoptive and kinship parents throughout the United States. Offers support to foster and kinship families including the Family Allegation Support Team, Family Court Education and Support, Ombudsmen and more post adoption support services. The Coalition advocacy focuses on issues that need system-wide attention through legislative and administrative advocacy.

Provides training to individuals interested in applying for certification as foster and adoptive parents to prepare to either adopt or foster children that are in the custody of the Commissioner. Places and monitors children that have been placed outside the birth family in licensed foster care homes. Responsible for strengthening and preserving families and ensuring the protection and permanency for children. Placement of children into foster homes occurs in situations of neglect and/or abuse or if the child has been adjucated as a Juvenile Delinquent (JD). Placement only occurs when no other alternatives are possible.
