Offers an array of Public Clinics and Services to Genesee County residents including Childhood and Adult Immunizations, Tuberculosis Screening and Treatment, confidential Sexually Transmitted Disease screening, and anonymous, confidential AIDS/HIV counseling and testing. Services may be covered by insurance or clients may be eligible for free care.

Responsible for septic systems, inspections and permit issuance, drinking water testing, public health hazards and nuisances, clean indoor air enforcement, onsite wastewater treatment system regulation, rabies investigations and vaccinations, insect control, West Nile Virus surveillance. Rabies vaccinations: Conducts free rabies vaccination clinics for dogs, cats and domesticated ferrets in several locations across Cattaraugus County. All Cattaraugus County residents are eligible for these free vaccinations. Notices will be posted on the Cattaraugus County website, through radio, newspaper ads, fliers on community boards around the County. The Rabies Program provides Rabies Shots to the public as well as information.
Offers free rabies vaccination clinics for owners of dogs, ferrets, and cats. Owners are required to keep pets on a leash or in a carrier and bring their pet's past rabies shot records.

* Assists with the treatment of rabies by administering follow up injections of the vaccination in the weeks following exposure. Initial treatment must take place in a hospital emergency room.
Offers regularly scheduled rabies clinics throughout the county for cats, dogs and ferrets. Also provides information about rabies and animal bites/exposures. Clinics are provided in cooperation from the Chemung County SPCA and Health Department. Takes and responds to reports of rabid animals and bites. If bitten, scratched or have had contact with the saliva of an animal that is believed rabid, wash the wound immediately and contact a health care provider. If treatment is recommended, call immediately to determine where treatment should be received. If there is any chance of exposure to a bat through an inapparent bite, for example, a bat had direct contact with someone, or was in a room with a sleeping individual call immediately to discuss the situation.

Rabies Immunization Clinics sponsored by CCDOH for pet dogs, cats and ferrets are for individual or family pet owners. The annual schedule of clinics includes several locations in the county, including town halls, as well as on the agency website. There is no charge for vaccination services for county residents, although donations are accepted. Breeders must use their own veterinarian for rabies vaccinations and are not eligible for vaccinations through the free clinics. Dogs must be leashed and cats and ferrets must be enclosed in an appropriate pet carrier.
Routine exams and vaccinations for pets of low-income community members provided by Cornell School of Veterinary Medicine students under faculty supervision.Pets must be in general good health; those with illness and serious problems should be taken to local veterinarians.Our Healthy Pet Clinic benefits our local community by taking care of pets and their human companions. Run by Cornell University's College of Veterinary Medicine, we provide vaccinations, basic laboratory tests, preventative care, and physical exams at a reduced fee. The clinic takes 30 pets.
