The Dog Control function for the Town of Cornwall is performed by the Police Department. Please contact the Town of Cornwall Police Department at (845)-534-8100 for issues pertaining to dogs. New York State requires all dogs over the age of four months to be licensed and vaccinated against rabies. Licenses may be obtained at the Town Clerk’s Office and must be renewed annually. The Town of Cornwall has a leash law. Dogs are to be leashed or confined at all times and no dog is permitted to run at large in any public place, street , avenue, road or highway.

Provides a food pantry for Veterans, the Military and their families, and families in need. LI Cares hosts Military Appreciation Tuesdays in Huntington Station, Lindenhurst, and Freeport which gives veterans and their families access to food, personal care items, household products, pet food, and school supplies. Also veterans are provided with information and resources pertaining to veteran specific benefits. LI Cares also operates a Mobile Pantry which delivers nutritious groceries to homebound, disabled veterans unable to access their local pantries.

Investigates animal cruelty complaints throughout the county, Court ordered humane education also available for people who have abused animals.
The responsibilities of the ACO are to answer all dog complaints, bites, wildlife complaints and enforce Clarkstown Town Codes and Village of Upper Nyack Ordinances relating to dogs, and NYS Agricultural & Markets Law Article 7.Wildlife must be sick or injured for the ACO to respond. Wildlife in homes or on property that are not sick or injured may be removed at the property owners expense by hiring a Nuisance Wildlife Agent.
