Provides caregivers of individuals with disabilities relief by allowing them to hire an individual of their choice to provide care in their absence. Individuals are awarded a number of hours per year.
* Assist families with increased costs for a family member living at home with a developmental disability. Expenses may include goods and services, respite care, community involvement, and other items.

* Provides assistance to Alzheimer's and dementia caregivers to receive respite funds from their county's area agency on aging, available through a grant to the Alzheimer's Association.

* Provides assistance in maintaining an independent lifestyle for individuals with disabilities with the following resources:
  • Self-Direction - for persons with developmental disabilities
  • Medicaid Service Coordination
  • Habilitation Services - assistance with daily tasks and independent living skills
  • Consumer Directed Personal Assistant Program
  • Assistance in transitioning from nursing care facilities to the home (including moving assistance).
  • Respite vouchers to allow caregivers to attend to their personal needs.
  • Financial reimbursement for items that allow an individual with disabilities to remain in their home.
