CORE SERVICES | HEMPSTEAD WORKS CAREER CENTER

Offers labor market information regarding unemployment insurance including the process of filing claims, answers to inquiries regarding existing claims, information regarding job training programs, including those funded by the WIA (Workforce Investment Act), the Older Americans Act, the Senior Community Employment Opportunity Program, the Perkins Act, and the Federal Unemployment Tax Act. Provides information regarding programs for education and training, and referrals to local resources. Provides job search assistance, use of Resource Room which includes personal computers, job banks, resume software, a photocopier, fax machine, telephone bank, workstations, instructional videos, and a listing of employer job orders in the job bank. Senior Citizen Program - Town of Hamburg Department of Youth, Recreation & Senior Services

Activities include: billiards, travel clubs, club meetings, special events, van/wheelchair van service, hot lunches, defensive driving classes, meals on wheels, information and referral, monthly newsletter, volunteer opportunities, caregivers program, and support group. Health focused activities include: aerobics class, health maintenance center, "Are You Okay?" Program, arthritis exercise program (ACE), Silver Sneakers Exercise Program, health insurance counseling (HIICAP), and adult day care (see separate listing for Hamburg Town - Adult Day Services). Pool programs include: Aqua Strength and Core, Aqua Aerobics and Tai Chi, and open swim.

A4TD - Kenmore

Associates for Training and Development (A4TD) administers the Senior Community Service Employment Program (SCSEP) in Niagara, Orleans, Genesee, Erie, and Wyoming Counties. A4TD helps mature people get back into the workforce by providing paid occupational skills and workplace experience training. Designed specifically for income-qualified workers age 55 and above, the purpose of the SCSEP is to provide training and skill-building opportunities to program participants while providing much needed community service to local non-profits and public agencies. Some examples of training sites include: hospitals, libraries, senior centers, schools, town clerks, museums, and more. These agencies provide internship opportunities where program participants learn updated job skills. In addition to on-site training, each participant receives career assessments, technology skills updates, supportive services referrals, and career counseling.

CORTLAND WORKS CAREER CENTER, SENIOR COMMUNITY SERVICE EMPLOYMENT PROGRAM | CORTLAND WORKS CAREER CENTER

Helps low-income persons ages 55 and transition to unsubsidized employment through part-time employment training opportunities.Participants work an average of 20 hours a week in public or not-for-profit agencies and receive job counseling, information and referral, legal assistance and services from the Area Agency on Aging and Office of Employment and Training.

Senior Employment Program | Pro Action of Steuben and Yates - Main Site

Offers training to enable individuals to enter or re-enter the workforce. The senior workers complete 20 weekly training hours of paid community service with non-profit and public agencies while continuing to actively seek permanent employment. They are provided opportunities for learning new skills and/or enhancing skills already in place.
