Provides diagnostic vocational evaluation, prevocational services and sheltered vocational training in work centers leading to comparative employment in the community. Work activities: bench assembly/packaging, porter maintenance, food service, printing, mail sorting and material movement. Clinical services include social work, psychology and nursing. Offers supported/ competitive job placements with long term support services. Program activities operate under the guidelines established by the New York State Office for People with Developmental Disabilities and the Department of Labor. Provides vocational opportunities to people with disabilities, seeks to maximize their independence and adjustment to the community, offers job placement in a competitive position. Individuals prepare and deliver hot meals, via a mobile unit from TRI, to needy individuals living in supported housing. Documentation of disability and parental consent for individuals under 18 years old required.

Provides training in maintenance and painting to psychiatrically disabled adults.

The Nassau Day Training Program provides both vocational and community integration services and serves as a job placement center for special needs populations in Nassau County. Our program provides outreach and/or mentorship to those with severe persistent mental illness and co- occurring disorders that may also include co-morbid health issues. The overall mission is to assist those in our program to enter the workplace as quickly as possible. We work with our program members to achieve increased community integration and independent functioning to prepare them for work. During the course of the program they may experience different levels of integration and independent functioning: developing work readiness, volunteer placement or actual competitive employment. In addition we offer Adult Career and Continuing Education Services Vocational Rehabilitation (ACCES-VR) sponsored services such as Diagnostic Vocational Evaluations, Supported Employment Services and Office Skills Training and Placement.

Provides supported employment services to people with disabilities under contract with Adult Career and Continuing Education Services-Vocational Rehabilitation (ACCES-VR) and the Office for People with Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD). Employment specialists help individuals with disabilities develop work skills and connect with local employers. They also provide job coaching and ongoing supports.

Offers employment, planning and support service for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Provides assistance for these individuals to obtain, maintain or advance in competitive employment. Includes job-readiness assessment/employment discovery process.

Provides instruction for adults with developmental disabilities and autism and other severe behavioral impairments in areas including: use of community resources, communication and socialization, health care, vocational education, personal adjustment and independent living skills, and leisure activities. Provides intensive training and work opportunities to individuals with developmental disabilities. Both vocational employment and supported employment opportunities are available. Employment Specialists and Job Developers support and train individuals in resume writing, interviewing, and obtaining employment. Job Coaching is available to teach on-the-job skills, help individuals maintain their employment, and give support with work-related issues.

Employment Support Services include person-centered vocational supports in a variety of settings, developing skills and good work habits as a way of increasing independence and assisting individuals to become productive and contributing members of the community. Personal growth and a sense of self-worth are achieved and enhanced. Adults with developmental disabilities may be able to earn income while working to achieve their maximum potential. A wide range of services and supports are offered including exploration of career interests, job readiness programs, and in some cases, a more directly supported work environment.
