Career Options provides job readiness, skill assessment, diagnostic vocational evaluation, résumé development, career counseling, job development, on the job training, and follow up services. The Vocational Centers offer job opportunities for individuals to develop and improve the skills necessary to meet their goals for employment. The Center focuses on soft skills development such as acceptance of supervision, following directions, attention to task, co-worker relationships, job completion and time management.

Work Experience
This service is for adults with disabilities including: standardized assessment, specialized assessment, work site evaluation, community based assessments, work readiness. Prevocational services are offered through community pre-vocational services for the IDD, the Jawonio Thrift Shop at our Yonkers location and Connections/Pre-Employment Program for the behavioral health challenged in our Yonkers locations. In addition, Jawonio has offered grant funded green cleaning training programs in Rockland and Westchester.

Employment Support Services include person-centered vocational supports in a variety of settings, developing skills and good work habits as a way of increasing independence and assisting individuals to become productive and contributing members of the community. A wide range of services and supports are offered including exploration of career interests, job readiness programs, and in some cases, a more directly supported work environment.

Offers a number of programs designed to meet the needs of children with developmental disabilities and their caregivers. Services include: - Respite Services: Offers planned short-term and time-limited opportunities for families and care providers to have some personal time. - Employment Services: Helps adults and youth to obtain and retain competitive employment through vocational counseling, employment training programs, work experience acquisition, soft skills development, rehabilitation services, and support services to help youth obtain, maintain, or advance in competitive employment or self-employment. - Children's Health Homes/Care Management: Includes care coordination, comprehensive transitional care, individual and family support, and referral to community and social support services as needed. - Community Habilitation: Assists youth living at home with a loved one or independently in the community to maintain or develop the highest level of independence possible for them. - Community Based Day Habilitation: Promotes community inclusion and integration. - Family Reimbursement Program: Covers expenses for goods and services needed to care for a loved one with a developmental disability who lives at home. - Self-Directed Services: Enables individuals to make choices about their staff, supports, and services. - Preventive Services: Provides support to help families learn the necessary skills to ensure their children remain at home and out of foster care placement. - Behavioral Health Services: Includes community habilitation, caregiver/family supports and services, pre-vocational services, and supported employment. - Project C.O.A.C.H.: Provides telephone counseling, referral, outreach, and intervention/prevention for individuals and families.

This is an exciting and challenging program designed to build community and strengthen peer leadership skills in teens. Activities are crafted for success and achievement, require full participation and promote improved decision making, problem solving, and communication skills. The program's goal is to work with young people who are struggling to overcome difficult situations, and guide them toward higher education and purposeful employment. Participants attend one of the three, 3-week summer sessions and then attend weekend activities at camp during the school year. Teen's families also participate in the program, during weekends in the spring and fall. Activities include camping, canoeing, high ropes, peer group counseling, learning basic work skills, and local community service projects.
