NEW’s daytime offering, Blue Collar Prep (BCP), is a seven-week full-time program geared towards giving women a well-rounded introduction to the building trades and hands-on training experience with tools and building materials.

Provides you with the foundation to work as a teaching assistant in public and private schools. The program is designed to meet New York State academic requirements for teaching assistants within the schools of New York State. The program is designed for individuals who wish to begin a career in education as well as for individuals presently employed in area school districts who wish to or need to upgrade their professional credentials to meet New York State and/or local district guidelines. United Way of Long Island’s Workforce Development Training Academy provides free hands-on training focused on creating a foundation and pathways to secure careers in the renewable energy industry for Long Islanders. Hands-on training is focused on clear, long-term career path development and complemented by online financial empowerment workshops. Power Up! Wind, Solar & Renewables graduates are proficient in the installation of clean heating and cooling technologies, high-efficiency HVAC, heat pumps, solar panels, and EV Charging. The training is open at no cost to youths, veterans, and others entering the job market.

Provides career counseling, career and technical education (day or evening), and adult literacy instruction, including high school equivalency (HSE) preparation and HSE testing. Career and technical education includes medical programs, and training in the following career roles: Practical Nurse, Nurse Aide, Phlebotomist, Dental Assistant, Machinist, Welder, Heavy Equipment Operator, etc.

Provides a training curriculum with internship opportunities targeted toward two increasingly in-demand careers: medical coder and pharmacy technician. Assists youth and adults to succeed in the workforce by encouraging self-sufficiency, familiarizing them with the world of work, facilitating the creation of job opportunities, and providing services related to these activities. Vocational rehabilitation provides HSED (formerly GED), career readiness workshops, vocational and classroom training, construction technology program, and work experience services for members of the Seneca Nation of Indians and other federally recognized Nations residing 20 miles of all Seneca Nation territories who have a documented disability. Tribal 477 provides HSED (formerly GED), training, career readiness workshops, vocational and classroom training, construction technology program, and work experience services for members of the Seneca Nation of Indians and other federally recognized Nations (and children of an enrolled Seneca father) residing 25 miles of the Cattaraugus, Allegany and Oil Springs territories.

Provides individuals with case management services, income support and occupational skills training. Additional services include career counseling, provision of labor market information, short-term prevocational services and supportive services.

Offering an opportunity for individuals to be Fair Housing Testers. LIHS is a nonprofit fair housing agency with openings for testers. Testers are considered per diem employees rather than employees. However, LIHS will train and pay volunteers Testers a stipend of $17.00 per hour plus travel expenses. A job training and placement program which trains local youth from low income families to be landscapers or stone masons, with work placement when they complete the course.

Provides short, non-credit programs focused on helping unemployed, underemployed, and career changing individuals enter manufacturing careers (Welding, CNC/Machining, Industrial Maintenance Technician, BAS, HVAC etc.). Students who enter the programs do not need a high school diploma and the course fees are often entirely or partially covered by grants, scholarships and other funding sources. JCC Career Services will also support these students in their efforts to find a job. At the end of several programs, a workshop is held that leads students through resume building and interview skills. Workforce Development invites local manufacturing companies to interview students on campus at the end of some of the programs (welding, machining and industrial maintenance). Students have access to JCC Career Services for a year after the completion of their program.
