Maintains computer registry of volunteer marrow donors and conducts searches for unrelated marrow donors for patients in need of bone marrow transplant. Patient Advocacy Office helps patients with information about matching, unrelated donors, financing a transplant, and choosing a transplant center.

Treats diseases for which bone marrow(stem cell) transplantation has been curative, such as : leukemia myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS), sever aplastic anemia, inherited bone marrow failure syndromes, brain tumors, sickle cell anemia, thalassemia, immunodeficiency disorder, and metabolic storage diseases.

Offers individuals who have had bone marrow or stem cell transplant surgery the opportunity to interact with their peers, share concerns and successes.

Provides information and referral, education, and telephone support to people dealing with bone marrow transplants.

Helps serve the needs of Long Islanders and the surrounding communities by collecting and distributing eye tissue for sight restoring corneal transplants, eye research and medical education.

Provides financial assistance to needy kidney patients, transplant recipients, and donors to help cover the cost of treatment, medication transportation, emergency transient dialysis, medical equipment, etc. Has several programs: Individual Grants Program, Pharmacy Grant Program, Emergency Fund Program, Discount Pharmacy Card, Health Insurance Premium Program, Disaster Relief Program, Sherer Travel-Related Dialysis Program, and the Pediatric Campership Program.

Pediatric specialists, evaluate children with genetically defined, primary immune defects that lead to recurrent serious infection in childhood and adolescents. For these patients, bone marrow transplant or gene therapy, where appropriate, are used for immune reconstitution.
