Offers programs to students ages 13-21 in grades 8-12. The Prevocational Program services students with various developmental disabilities. The primary goal of the program is to maximize each student's potential and to teach skills that will enable them to become as independent as possible within the confines of his/her disability. Program components include academics with an emphasis on functional skill development, as well as simulated work activities to apply newly acquired knowledge. Behavior management, independent living, and social skills are also addressed. Where needed, discrete trial teaching and applied behavioral analysis is utilized in conjunction with grade level curriculum. Functional assessments of behavior intervention plans are implemented for support when needed. Students are classified as Multiple Disabilities; Autism; Intellectual Disability; Emotional Disturbance; Speech Impairment and Other Health Impairment. The Secondary Developmental Program services students with various developmental disabilities. The primary goal of the program is to maximize each student's potential and to teach skills that will enable them to become as independent as possible within the confines of his/her disability. Program components include improving cognition with an emphasis on sensory motor skills development. Functional assessments of behavior and behavior intervention plans are put in place for support when needed. The 12:1:4 Program emphasizes a multi-sensory approach to learning. Emphasis is placed on improving cognition, sensory motor skills development and use of adaptive equipment to aid movement and independence. Students placed in the 12:1:4 class component are dependent upon staff for meeting their needs throughout the school day. Classroom instruction is provided with hand over hand assistance. Related services of speech, occupational therapy and physical therapy are provided on a group push-in basis. All students are assessed using the New York State Alternate Assessment. The District Based Program (Half day at WHBLC @ Shoreham-Wading River High School / Half day at H.B. Ward Career & Tech SCE or TSP @ BLC) services students with various developmental disabilities. The primary goal is to introduce the students to work skills that may prepare them for entry level employment or help them achieve success in their transitional plan. Functional assessments of behavior and behavior intervention plans are put in place for support when needed. Programs are offered at various locations.

A comprehensive, non-residential program designed to prepare youths between the ages of 14-21 who are in foster care or discharged from foster care, to live and work independently in the community when they are no longer eligible for foster care. In our comprehensive non-residential program, we also work closely with foster parents. Home visits and supportive services are offered; foster parent training and support groups are provided throughout the year. Workshops, health/Sexuality, recreation, vocational training, college/career readiness, resume writing, financial literacy, mental health and substance abuse awareness and much more.

Provides Intensive Case Management(ICM) for seriously disturbed children and youths, ages 5-17 years, who are having difficulty functioning in the community. The program is designed to support families in their efforts to help their children, reducing the need for hospitalization and placement by providing weekly home visits, assistance in daily living, advocacy, referral, crisis intervention and coordination of services.

Meets the unique learning needs of students who are emotionally, behaviorally, or developmentally disabled to a mild/moderate degree through three distinct programs on a closed campus. The Nassau Education and Treatment (NET) Program which is a collaborative effort between Nassau BOCES, Sagamore Children's Psychiatric Hospital (Phase I) and North Shore Child & Family Guidance Center (Phase II). This meets the therapeutic, medical and learning needs for students diagnosed with various psychiatric disorders. The instructional program is aligned to the New York State Learning Standards and addresses students' cognitive levels and learning styles. Students are given the opportunity to: Earn a New York State Regents diploma or other state approved high school diploma and earn college credits through a partnership with S.U.N.Y Farmingdale State College. The Modified High School Program is designed to meet the learning and behavioral needs of students with varying abilities. The curriculum balances transitional and prevocational skills training, functional academics and New York State Learning standards. The instruction is aligned to the Career Development and Occupational Studies (CDOS) standards and leads to a Skills and Achievement Commencement Credential (SACC). The Life Skills Enrichment Program, offers a daily living skills curriculum with a functional academic base to develop job readiness skills. The instruction is aligned with the Skills and Achievement Commencement Credential (SACC). Students participate in non-paid internships at public and non-profit facilities and agencies, such as supermarkets, offices, parks and small businesses supervised by Nassau BOCES staff and on-site personnel to learn a variety of entry level skills. CCA’s behavior support program encourages positive choices, recognizes student achievement and supports the school mission to provide specially designed instruction to meet the social-emotional, academic, behavioral and transitional needs of students. Through a collaborative process among students, staff, families, school districts and outside agencies, CCA maintains a safe and supportive learning community enabling students to become productive, functional and independent members of society.

Offers a school which is designed for students with moderate to severe developmental disabilities. The instructional program, which is aligned to the New York State Standards for Students with Severe Disabilities and the New York State Common Core Learning Standards, builds confidence and capabilities of students and focuses on developing communication skills and personal independence. Research-based methodologies, such as Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), visual strategies, the Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS), augmentative communications systems, functional behavioral assessment and positive behavioral supports are utilized in this program. The Rosemary Kennedy School consists of the elementary, middle and high school classes as well as district-based classes which provide mainstreaming opportunities for students. Community-based instruction is an essential part of the curriculum and compliments traditional classroom learning. Students participate in recreational activities (libraries, bowling), life skills (grocery shopping, restaurants), volunteer work sites (Mercy Hospital, Hofstra University) and vocational enclaves in the community (fast food restaurants, retail stores). Each student is educated by an interdisciplinary team comprised of the classroom teacher, teacher aides, psychologist, social worker, related service personnel, curriculum teachers and administrators. Parents are encouraged to participate in their child's education through daily communication notebooks, conferences, visits, parent training sessions and parent support groups. Transition planning for students from ages 12 to 21 is facilitated by vocational rehabilitation counselors and social workers in coordination with students and their families prior to graduation. In this supervised phase of the program, residents live in group homes. Trained counselors are on site 24 hours a day for support and assistance at these homes. A Young Adult Program is also offered to individuals ages 18-25. Residents who live in the supervised sites receive counseling, medication management, assistance with cooking and cleaning, food shopping, money management, and they participate in rehabilitative activities. Weekly community meetings give residents a chance to take an active role in planning house activities and to discuss any concerns they have about the home. The emphasis in this phase is to support the resident in acquiring basic living skills.
