This hospital also carries a philosophy that "Families are insiders" and therefore that family-centered care is the core the active involvement in the healing process is important to recovery.

Provides information and referral for expectant parents and refers callers to Lamaze Certified Educators (LCCEs). Provides Childbirth Preparation Classes, Early Pregnancy Education, Breastfeeding Education and Lactation Consultation, Newborn Baby Care, Assisting at Births as a Doula/Birth Assistant, Infant and Toddler CPR and First Aid, Infant Massage and New Mother's Groups. This three hour program provides expectant women and their coaches (husband, boyfriend, mother, friend, etc.) with infant care education. Topics include the handling, feeding, changing, bathing, and caring for the newborn. Discuss layette, equipment,furnishings, toys, safety, growth, development, health and illness.

Provides birthing and in-hospital midwifery services as well as other perinatal services including a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) to treat critically ill or premature infants.

Provides comprehensive rehabilitation services consisting of diagnostic, evaluative, and therapeutic services to children with known or suspected disabilities. Center also supports the Regional Perinatal Center of WNY, and the only Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) in Western New York that has the full scope of pediatric subspecialists required to operate a Level III NICU. Each center or program is comprised of an interdisciplinary team of specialists specifically selected to meet patients' needs. Services are family focused and provided in conjunction with pediatricians and community resources. Clinics offered include: Motor Clinic, Spina Bifida Clinic, Spasticity Clinic, Early Neurodevelopmental Clinic, Comprehensive Developmental Clinic, Feeding Disorders Clinic, Down Syndrome Program, Speech and Hearing Program, Orthopedic Rehabilitation Program, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Adaptive Seating Program and Aquatic Therapy.

Healthy Kids is a joint endeavor between Samaritan Hospital and Rensselaer County Department of Social Services This is a unique home visitation program. The program is voluntary and free to participants. Family support workers provide a range of services, including childbirth education, infant care and child development, family planning options, assistance with obtaining transportation, meal planning, and referral to community agencies.

Provides birthing beds and observation rooms for expectant mothers. Other services include information about pregnancy, labor, and delivery, sibling educational tours, and ultrasounds.

Provides home visits to pregnant women, new mothers and fathers, and their children up to age 2 who reside in the City of Syracuse. Services include case management, health screenings and education about pregnancy, family planning, nutrition, baby care, growth and development, and other maternal child health topics.

Maternity Center provides prenatal programs, baby care and safety courses, intensive care for premature newborns and those with health problems, full range of prenatal testing, classes in childbirth, Lamaze and breast feeding. The Center has its own entry and parking lot. An orientation for expectant parents is held every Saturday at 9am; call for reservations as space is limited.
