Healthy Kids is a joint endeavor between Samaritan Hospital and Rensselaer County Department of Social Services This is a unique home visitation program. The program is voluntary and free to participants. Family support workers provide a range of services, including childbirth education, infant care and child development, family planning options, assistance with obtaining transportation, meal planning, and referral to community agencies.

Maternity Center provides prenatal programs, baby care and safety courses, intensive care for premature newborns and those with health problems, full range of prenatal testing, classes in childbirth, Lamaze and breast feeding. The Center has its own entry and parking lot. An orientation for expectant parents is held every Saturday at 9am; call for reservations as space is limited.

Our board-certifies physicians are uniquely qualified to diagnose and treat infants, children and adolescents whose medical emotional health care needs differ from adults and requires specialized care.

Provides the medical and support services for those who are pregnant or new parents.

This three hour program provides expectant women and their coaches (husband, boyfriend, mother, friend, etc.) with infant care education. Topics include the handling, feeding, changing, bathing, and caring for the newborn. Discuss layette, equipment,furnishings, toys, safety, growth, development, health and illness.

The Maternal and Child Health goal is to improve the health of Warren County families with a particular focus on mothers, babies and children. Postpartum care and evaluation, newborn care, breastfeeding support, child health, health education parenting support and immunization.

Provides birthing beds and observation rooms for expectant mothers. Other services include information about pregnancy, labor, and delivery, sibling educational tours, and ultrasounds.

Center also supports the Regional Perinatal Center of WNY, and the only Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) in Western New York that has the full scope of pediatric subspecialists required to operate a Level III NICU. Each center or program is comprised of an interdisciplinary team of specialists specifically selected to meet patients' needs.
