Programs are offered for Prenatal (during pregnancy) moms, Pregnancy & COVID-19; Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders; Breastfeeding Support; WIC; Perinatal Hepatitis B Prevention Program; Safe Sleep; Cribs for Kids and more. Provides training and support services for new parents to help them care for their child when they get home.

Serves women in all walks of life, at all times and passages on their lives. The office acts as the liaison between the women of Suffolk County and county government; Provides and sponsors free conferences, workshops and seminars on health, legal issues and personal enrichment topics; Operates a women’s helpline which provides information referrals, peer counseling and resource material on a wide-range of topics including: domestic violence, sexual harassment, legal rights and breast health and mammography information and Publishes brochures and literature addressing domestic violence. Offers several resources to help ensure children get a strong start for a healthy life. Programs include: Early Intervention – a voluntary developmental evaluation and services program offered by New York State and administered locally by the Nassau County Department of Health Office for Children with Special Needs; Preschool Special Education - provides services to children who are 3 to 5 years old with developmental delays and/or educational needs; WIC - Special Supplemental Foods Program for Women, Infants and Children. WIC provides nutritious foods as well as nutrition counseling and education for its participants; Lead Poisoning & Prevention – Offers information to prevent lead poisoning in children; Cribs for Kids - providing a safe-sleep education program for parents and caregivers which includes the intervention of a safety-approved crib if the family cannot otherwise afford one; Healthy Moms & Babies - Resource center to promote the well-being of childbearing women, infants, their families and communities.; Children and Youth with Special Health Care Needs (CYSHCN) –provides referrals and information about resources in your community that help benefit children with special health care needs and their families; Child Fatality Review Team - review child deaths to better understand the causes of these deaths and to make recommendations based on the team's findings in order to reduce future child fatalities; and the 4th Trimester – resources to help moms with taking care of themselves with Post-Partum Depression, breast feeding and more. Offers a support group for women who are currently or planning to breastfeed.

This three hour class is designed to prepare expectant parents for a successful breastfeeding experience. Breast care, pumping, factors affecting milk supply, strategies for managing breastfeeding and employment are discussed. Program booklet is available.

Offers in-person breastfeeding support for qualifying residents up to two one (1) hour in-person visits by a trained breastfeeding support person. Funded in part by the Long Island Unitarian Universalist Fund.

A coordinated group of lactation consultants and specialists share resources and best practices to improve breastfeeding success.

Provides information and support to women during and after pregnancy. Services during pregnancy include prenatal education which focus on fetal growth, stages of labor, breastfeeding, etc. After birth services offered are postpartum home visits, weight and length check, breastfeeding help, referrals for other specialized needs, nutritional consults and dental care, and much more. Support services are available by telephone or a home visit.

Offers pregnant women low or no cost pre-natal programs covering newborn-infant care, breast feeding, CPR/Tot-saver, pre-natal exercise and Lamaze training. Participants in the Lamaze class have the opportunity, at no charge, for a one time visit by a registered nurse to assist in newborn care.

Provides information for expectant mothers concerning breastfeeding. Discusses techniques, problems and continuing breastfeeding (after leaving the hospital). Classes are held on the 3rd Thursday of the month from 7-10pm. 1st Saturday of each month 9am-12pm. Please call for more information. P
