The division offers diagnosis, treatment and prevention of serious genetic disorders and related developmental abnormalities, and hereditary cancer counseling and testing. The Division of Genetics is also the New York State Metabolic Disease Treatment Center for Western New York. Also provides immediate access to childbirth education, lactation services, registered dietitians and genetic counseling and testing provided by Women & Children's Hospital of Buffalo.

Provides medical care, education, counseling, and support for children and adolescents with sickle cell disease, thalassemia and other hemoglobin disorders. Exists within the Division of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology, which is part of the Department of Pediatrics and is affiliated with the SUNY at Buffalo School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences.

Provides genetic testing and counseling for individuals and families regarding disease or disability, etc.

Diagnoses and participates in the care of children and adults with inherited and sporadic genetic disorders. Children with problems such as (but not limited to) intellectual disabilities, birth defects and hearing loss are seen. Offers prenatal consultations and coordinates the prenatal testing of chromosomal disorders and inherited disorders. Provides genetic counseling and other services to help families cope with their children's birth defects. Offers a Craniofacial Center, Marfan Syndrome, Neurofibromatosis Center, Breast and Ovarian Cancer/Colon Cancer, Genetic Counseling and Testing, Lysosomal Storage Disease Center for Children and Adults, and a Jewish Genetic Disease Program.

Advises and conducts testing for those who are concerned about the recurrence of hereditary problems or abnormalities in their offspring or for others (adults and children) who may be at risk for a variety of inherited conditions and need information about their own prospects for health.

Provides care of children with thalassemia including genetic counseling and prenatal diagnosis, medical therapies, stem cell transplantation, and education and support for families.

This multidisciplinary center is comprised of staff from the Divisions of Human Genetics and Pediatric Neurology. Referrals to Orthopedic and Ophthamolic services are coordinated by the genetic counselor, as needed. The Clinic provides diagnosis, management, coordination of medical care, genetic counseling and education.

Leads the worldwide fight to treat and cure Tay-Sachs, Canavan, GM1, and Sandhoff diseases by driving research, forging collaboration, and fostering community. NTSAD is one of the oldest patient advocacy groups in the country, focusing on funding research, supporting over 700 families and individuals worldwide, and raising awareness to prevent disease.

Provides genetic testing for disease for both preventive and diagnostic purposes.

Provides comprehensive multidisplinary services to children and their families with hemophilia, Von Willebrand disease and related bleeding disorders. Staffing includes two hematologists (one pediatric, one adult), and orthopedist, two nurse clinicians, genetic counselor, social worker, physical therapist and a dental hygienist.
