Emily's Pantry is a food and nutritional education program for people living with HIV/AIDS. Ensures that individuals diagnosed with AIDS/HIV and their children have access to nutritional foods, and promote healthy eating habits, thus increasing their ability to manage their disease, and the medical complication as a result of treatment.

Offers basic nutrition education and counseling, to help promote healthy lifestyles, and condition-specific nutrition assessments to help anyone where nutrition has a direct impact on a specific illness, injury or disability.

Provides a location for seniors to meet, socialize and participate in many activities, such as arts and crafts, exercise classes, singing, trips and lunch, including a visiting nurse who comes once a month.

The Dutchess County Office for the Aging offers a wide variety of services to meet the nutritional needs of persons 60 years and older. Services include congregate meals at OFA Friendship Centers, Home Delivered Meals for homebound older adults, nutrition education and counseling, picnics during the summer, and year-round health promotion events.

Lunchtime meals held at congregate dining settings throughout the county. Provides meal, socialization, and nutrition education.

Provides nutrition education to the public, specifically those with lower income who may be eligible for, or enrolled in SNAP (food stamps). Participants receive hands-on learning on how to prepare quick and easy meals, how to prepare food safely and keep it safe to eat, how to read food labels and understand the dietary guidelines, and how to stretch food dollars.

Senior Citizen group with monthly activities such as seminars, field trips, exercise, craft, and cooking classes. A free goodie bag will be given to each senior monthly who signs up and receive a free hot take out meal on Mondays and Wednesdays, 3:30pm-5:30pm at the Gerard Place Community Center.

Offers free lectures on health topics to community members with the objective of educating, raising awareness, improving understanding of risk factors, diagnostic procedures and treatment. Topics may include cancer, diabetes, nutrition, stroke, cardiology and glaucoma. Topics are based on requests from the community, hospital physicians, staff and national health observances and recognition days. Call for more information.

Nutritious noontime meals are distributed to elderly residents in many locations in Orange County, with nutrition education and counseling with a registered dietician provided as needed. Arrangements may be made for weekend service and limited diet modifications. A pre-screening process is required to determine one’s eligibility for the service. Final approval is dependent upon an in-home assessment.
