Provides a variety of classes on topics related to childbirth, including the following. Prepared Childbirth: Provides tips to make pregnancy easier, along with facts about labor, delivery, and recovery at home. Discusses care for both mom and baby after leaving the hospital. A tour is included. Lamaze Focus: Geared towards parents who want additional focus on the Lamaze technique for natural child birth. Classes have four sessions and followed by a tour at Sisters. Covers all topics covered in the standard Prepared Childbirth classes. Prepared Cesarean Delivery: Covers what to expect for parents scheduled for a Cesarean Delivery. Covers all topics covered in the standard Prepared Childbirth classes, excluding focus on labor. Also provides discussion of recovery at home, pain control techniques, and questions about surgical delivery. Preparing to Breastfeed: A lactation consultant reviews common questions and concerns regarding the first weeks of breastfeeding. Both parents are welcome. Marvelous Multiples Classes: Intended to add to the childbirth classes for parents expecting more than one new arrival. Covers special concerns and special care of both mom and babies. Class offers more information about what is happening during pregnancy along with tips from moms who have been through pregnancies with multiple babies. Includes a tour of the NICU. Baby Talk: Intended to help reduce the stress of the first few weeks after childbirth. Focuses on newborn care, health concerns to watch for, and challenges faced by all new parents. Includes discussion time and practice time with lifelike dolls. Grandparents Classes: Covers new infant care, safety (especially car seat and sleep safety), supportive care for the new parents, and fun activities to prepare for the arrival of a precious grandchild. Infant and Child CPR/First Aid: Focuses on preparation for emergency situations. Covers how to respond if a child is choking, drowning, injured, or in need of CPR, with a focus on both infant and child age groups. Car Seat Safety: Provides a short safety presentation on car seat basics followed by an appointment for a one-on-one car seat fitting with a certified Child Passenger Safety technician. Parents should bring the car seat they will use so that it can be installed properly before leaving the hospital. The technician will assist with car seat installations for all kids, not just the new baby. Gestational Diabetes: Provides instruction on diabetes self-care and nutrition. Tours are available for all expectant parents. As space is limited, expectant parents should call to inquire at least a month before their due date. High Risk Pregnancies & Deliveries: Covers special concerns related to high risk pregnancies. The first three sessions cover medical care, what to do at home, and what to expect before and after delivery. The fourth session addresses neonatal intensive care and what parents should know about the possibility of their baby visiting the NICU before heading home.

Following the home assessment, intervention products and services are provided according to need and interest. Free products include: smoke detectors and batteries, CO detectors, child safety products, cleaning supplies, asthma trigger management supplies, and radon test kits to qualifying families.

Offers confidential testing and treatment for Chlamydia, Gonorrhea, Syphilis, and other sexually transmitted diseases. Treatment provided as indicated by examination results for genital warts, genital herpes, and other conditions such as crabs and scabies. Patients qualifying as high-risk are also screened for Hepatitis C. Confidential rapid HIV testing available at the request of the patient. Post-test counseling and referrals available for all patients tested for HIV. Also provides referrals for PrEP (Pre-exposure Prophylaxis) for HIV. Nurses provide counseling and education on PrEP to all patients servicing the Sexual Health Center. Individuals are screened to see if PrEP is the right choice for them. If an individual is a good candidate for PrEP, one of the clinic nurses will work with them to make an appointment at Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center Infectious Disease Clinic. Provides free condoms, finger cots, lubricant, and dental dams. HOURS: Sexual Health Center Clinic: Tuesday & Thursday, 9am-3pm. Niagara County Department of Health Nursing Division Office: Monday-Friday, 8am-4pm. Clinic and office are closed on major holidays.

Trained nutrition staff from Cornell Cooperative Extension provide a series of nutrition lessons intended to address the challenges faced by low income families. Sessions are typically scheduled once per week for 6-8 weeks at a variety of locations across the county and are provided free of charge to low-income families and youth. Sessions involve a variety of interactive, hands-on activities, food preparation and tasting, and discussions to address the concerns of families. Topics addressed in these sessions are adapted to meet the needs of the individuals in the group.
