Sensible Gun Legislation Day. Holds Education Fund displays on the issues of gun violence, debates, issues on radio and television, and provides a speakers bureau.

Distributes Firearm Safety Kits, free of charge, in order to increase public awareness and improve gun safety, especially in children, about the dangers of firearms.

Establishes and maintains communication within the community, provides information that assists the public in protecting themselves against criminal acts, and improves the ability of the community to reduce criminal behavior. Responsibilities include the coordination and development of programs including bicycle safety programs, children's fingerprinting, senior citizen safety, and car seat installations and inspections.

Distributes gunlocks and educational materials to gun owners in order to raise awareness about firearm safety.

Offers printed materials and online resources for local residents with safety tips and information. Safety information covers a variety of topics such as bicycle safety, firearms, holidays, internet safety, child car seats, and more.

Offers the only indoor range open to the public in the county. The range accommodates rifles, shotguns, and handguns. There are six ranges and 30 individual shooting points available, and targets can be set from 5-30 yards. The range is available for use by certified clubs and the range has NRA certified instructors. Hunting safety classes are also offered. The range does not rent any guns. Black powder firearms are NOT permitted. The range is located at the Mitchel Field Athletic Complex. Call for detailed information.

Offers a 5-week program that will teach each student firearms safety, weapon nomenclature, proper weapons handling, fundamentals of marksmanship, as well as an introduction to tactical medicine, tactical procedures and response to a mass casualty event. This course is ideal for anyone who is interested in a law enforcement or military career. This program is also encouraged for those who are looking to have a better understanding of firearms and firearms safety. The instruction in this course is provided by veterans from each branch of the United States Military as well as active Law Enforcement Officers from state, federal and local agencies. Tuition includes the use of firearms and ammunition. Call for detailed information. 

Helps protect the public's rights on hunting, fishing, archery, trapping, shooting, and other sports and outdoor activities. Also educates on firearm safety. Meetings are held the first Friday of the month (except July and August) at 7:30pm, at the Caleb Smith Park Museum Building, Smithtown. Call or visit the website for additional information.
