Provides training of special education consultants who are then sent to work with teachers, child care workers, health care professionals or others working with children having special needs, for limited periods of time to develop Itinerant services such as instruction, counseling, specialized therapies or other interventions.

Offers a 120-hour CDA program. The CDA program represents a national effort to credential qualified caregivers who work with children from birth through age five. The continuing education department offers a CDA program for the three childcare settings: Home visitor personnel; Family child care and Center-based. The CDA competency standards are the core of the program in addition to learning pediatric first aid and the identification and reporting of child abuse/neglect. The program will be directed in the following 8 content areas: Planning safe healthy environment to invite learning; Steps to advance children’s physical and intellectual development; Positive ways to support children’s social and emotional development; Strategies to establish productive relationships with families; Strategies to manage an effective program operation; Maintaining commitment to professionalism; Observing/recording children’s behavior; and Principles of child growth and development. The Child Development Associate is a person who has successfully complete CDA assessment and has been awarded the CDA Credential. S/he is able to meet the specific needs of children and works with parents and other adults to nurture children's physical, social, emotional and intellectual growth in a child development framework. Credentials are not awarded solely for the successful completion of the 120 hour course. CDA candidates are also required to have 480 hours of experience working with children under 5 years of age in a structured child care center within the past 5 years. Trains people through formal certification courses and informal presentations to prepare for and respond to life threatening emergencies, including CPR, first aid, water safety, baby sitter course, and presentations of disaster plans and kits.

Offers health and safety courses to professionals, adults and children including: first aid, CPR, babysitter training, water safety, life guard training, disaster preparedness, and sports injury. Courses available to the business community through the Work Place program.

Offers child care providers, over the age of 18 and licensed or registered by New York State Office of Children and Family Services, the MAT (Medication Administration Training) certifying child care providers to administer medication to children in their programs. Also offers parents and child care providers health care consults with RN's on any issue regarding MAT and non-MAT Health Care Programs. Will conduct site visits to ensure compliance with state child care regulations and act as resources for child care providers.

Provides education and training to child care providers, both private and from agencies. Also provides education to groups and agencies regarding various aspects of child care.

As a service of the Children's Bureau (U.S. Department of Health and Human Services), access to print, electronic publications, websites, and online databases covering a wide range of topics from prevention to permanency is made available, including child welfare, child abuse and neglect, out-of-home care, adoption, and other child-related issues.

Provides a variety of programs designed for teenagers in the community, such as babysitter training, dances, sports, exercise classes, art instruction, games and more.

Works with parents, providers, businesses, and community organizations to help promote the availability of quality child care services in the area. Provides parents with referrals and information on evaluating quality child care, plus resources on various parenting issues. Also offers providers access to valuable training and support services for new or established programs.

Provides reimbursement for qualifying meals and snacks serviced in all types of regulated or approved day care settings. Promotes the health and well being of infants, children and adults in day care by insuring that day care providers serve nutritious and safely prepared meals and snacks.

Offers any and all types of assistance to individuals and programs providing or are considering the option to provide child care in their homes or center-based child care programs. Assistance includes training to meet regulatory requirements, Mandated Reporter training, and improve program quality and on-site quality improvement projects for existing providers. Also provides start-up assistance for prospective child care providers.

Recruitment and training for child care providers. Can send nurse to train in NYS Medication Administration Laws. Nurse can provide training and assist child care programs with developing their health care plans and health related issues. Program called Quality Child Care Campaign, thru the County CCRR oversees program assisting providers and programs in improving quality at their site and to become nationally accredited.

Familyâs Child Care Connections serving Columbia, Greene and Ulster Counties is a child care resource and referral agency, working to increase the supply of quality child care and assists parents in their child care search by referring them to legal child care providers. Other services include: identifying sources of financial aid, training and technical assistance to early care and learning programs, etc.

Works cooperatively with the local community to coordinate, plan, and provide programs and services that enhance and develop the lives of the young people in the community.
