Inspects buildings for conformity to fire prevention laws. Visits scenes of fires to determine causes and educates public in fire safety requirements. The Implements advisories on the usage of mobile food preparation vehicles, portable heaters, recreational fires, fire extinguishers and barbecues/grills. Division of Fire Prevention is a multifaceted organization, charged with a number of critical responsibilities including: Certified Code Enforcement Officials,fire cause & origin investigations, hazardous materials response team, emergency management, peace officers and triennial inspections.

To secure a Temporary Residence permit for an existing establishment, you must submit a completed application, appropriate fee, and supporting documentation. Prior to construction or renovation of a Temporary Residence, the operator must submit plans and applications for review to this Department. Please call for detailed information.
Provides a variety of services related to the state's Uniform Fire Prevention and Building Code and the State Energy Conservation Construction Code. In close coordination with community officials, DCEA oversees the enforcement practices of local governments in matters pertaining to building construction, fire prevention and energy conservation. Division staff also provides technical and educational assistance to local jurisdictions, administers variances, and serves as secretariat to the State Fire Prevention and Building Code Council.
