Provides detailed environmental analysis of all proposed projects and makes specific recommendations to the Town Board. Develops and implements environmental improvement and protection projects including erosion control, wildlife habitat improvement, drainage projects, shellfish seeding programs, woodland restoration, and public awareness programs on the need for recycling.

Rockland Conservation and Service Corps is comprised of several programs. Our Summer Conservation Corps is an outdoor service corps for people ages 18 to 25 in which individuals earn a $2,100 living stipend for 350 hours of service from June to August completing environmentally themed local service projects. Rockland Community Emergency Responders Team (RCERT) is a team of volunteers dedicated to preparing for, responding to and recovering from natural and man-made disasters in Rockland. Volunteers receive training from professionals from the Rockland County Fire and Emergency Services. The Trail Guide Program trains volunteer guides to lead people on guided walks of various difficulty levels through village, town, county and state parks throughout the region.

Also offers production, profitability, and protecting the environment training for farms of all sizes and enterprises, agricultural district review, farmland protection, and business planning.

Offers a comprehensive collection of reference and circulating law books and a collection of materials encompassing all facets of land use, including planning, conservation and preservation, water management and local development.

Facilitates Southold Town's land preservation efforts by working with the Land Preservation Committee which reviews and makes recommendations to the Town Board in regard to fee title land acquisitions, development right assessment acquisitions and other types of preservation methods.

Provides services of environmental quality, oil spills, air quality, hazardous waste, operations, solid waste, flood control, and forestry. Client referred to appropriate office if necessary.
