The Center provides a wide array of classes in dance, music, fitness/wellness, theater, spoken word, computer arts technology and the visual arts. These classes are offered after school, evenings and weekends at our main site in midtown Kingston. A homework and tutoring center is also available. Programs include S.P.I.C.E, a year round project for low income women and their children (provides childcare at the center if needed to participate) with a special focus on women of color.

DARIA was created to empower children, create confidence and encourage academic accountability through STEAM after-school care and tutoring. Providing more than supervision and snack, DARIA will offer support and guidance for the improvement of standard educational skills, encourage students to further develop their own personal academic interests, and give children the opportunity to develop new skills while working to improve current curricular weaknesses. DARIA aims to fill a void in after-school care while ensuring a higher percentage of correct responses and properly completed assignments. DARIA will be open until MIDNIGHT giving parents the opportunity to work overtime or late shifts with a peace of mind.

Offers children in need the friendship and guidance of caring adult volunteers. Provides academic tutoring, athletics programs, arts and crafts, and vocational instruction. Requests adult volunteer commit for at least four hours per month, weekly or bi-weekly.

Provides literacy assessment and instruction for students entering grades 1-12 who are experiencing difficulties in reading and/or writing. Based on the results of the evaluation, students are placed in either small groups (no more than four students) or in an individual setting. Conferences inform parents of progress and make recommendations for support at home. At the end of the semester, a summary report is written for all students. Programs are offered during three semesters per year: Fall, Spring, and Summer. The cost of instruction is based on group or individual placement. For more information, contact the Literacy Center.
