Comprised of three organizations that administer veterans programs: the Veterans Health Administration, the Veterans Benefits Administration, and the National Cemetery Administration. Assisting veterans not only in maximizing their benefits, but also in supporting a successful transition to college life and achieving their educational and personal goals. The combination of resources, institutional support, student community and personalized attention you will receive while enrolled at Suffolk makes it an excellent place to begin your academic career or continue your studies. Suffolk offers a Veterans Resource Center with dedicated professionals that is available on each campus to assist you with the process for transitioning from military to college life and beyond along with a veterans lounge so veterans have a quiet space on campus to study and connect with fellow student veterans. A vibrant Student Veterans of America chapter on each campus will help connect you with other service members and veterans who want to support you as well a chapter of the SALUTE national honor society for military and veterans. Suffolk partners with outside community organizations that serve military and veteran, bringing a wide variety of resources to the College veteran community. Suffolk offers priority registration for military-connected students, helping you secure the classes and schedules you need. Suffolk proudly accepts military training credits that are recommended by the American Council on Education (ACE), which helps service members and veterans obtain college credit for their military training and experience. Scholarship Awards are made in two areas: academic and enrichment. Academic and enrichment scholarships awarded to support eligible youth. Community service grants are made to youth-serving agencies and schools that are mentoring a group of 7th-12th grade youth on a community service project. A Youth Advisory Board, led by teen volunteers from Long Island schools, works with United Way to review all applications and make scholarship award recommendations.

The Veteran Resource Center is here to do just that, by assisting Adelphi’s veterans, active duty military students and related community. Active, reserve and veteran military students using Post-9/11 G.I. Bill benefits or any other veterans affairs program benefits can apply and enroll in any of our associate, bachelor’s, certificate, master’s or doctoral programs, and you will have access to our many resources that are available. You can take courses where it best suits you: Online, at our campuses in Brooklyn and on Long Island, or at a military installation Fort Hamilton in Brooklyn, Fort Wadsworth on Staten Island, the Jones Beach Coast Guard Station in Freeport, SFO Moriches in East Moriches and the Shinnecock Coast Guard Station in Hampton Bays. If you are, or have been, part of the Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force or Coast Guard, your benefits can help you earn a private college degree at St. Joseph's College at little or no cost to you. SJC offers a special tuition rate of $250 per credit for service members (active duty, guard and reserve) enrolled for up to 10 credits. This amount is covered by Tuition Assistance (TA). SJC is a proud participant in the Post-9/11 GI Bill Yellow Ribbon Program. Our knowledgeable staff is available to answer questions regarding TA and other military benefits.
