Offers a program that was developed in response to requests from local school districts. Eastern Suffolk BOCES organized a consortium to create and oversee a regional summer school program. The program is located in local area school districts and serves students who attend their home districts during the traditional school year. Students with intensive management and/or educational needs require a continuation of district curriculum and instructional approaches during the summer months to prevent regression.

This is an exciting and challenging program designed to build community and strengthen peer leadership skills in teens. Activities are crafted for success and achievement, require full participation and promote improved decision making, problem solving, and communication skills. The program's goal is to work with young people who are struggling to overcome difficult situations, and guide them toward higher education and purposeful employment. Participants attend one of the three, 3-week summer sessions and then attend weekend activities at camp during the school year. Teen's families also participate in the program, during weekends in the spring and fall. Activities include camping, canoeing, high ropes, peer group counseling, learning basic work skills, and local community service projects.

It also provides for the administration of Regents exams in accordance with the Commissioner's regulations. Any two school districts that house their summer school population at a common site may participate in the Nassau BOCES Regional Summer School on a BOCES-aidable basis. The courses offered at any particular site are determined by the participating school districts in collaboration with Nassau BOCES, and may include remedial secondary courses and short-term academic or exploratory enrichment subjects at the elementary and secondary level. The Recreation and Teen Clubs offer a wide variety of recreational activities for adults and teens that live at home with their families. The events nurture friendships and include activities such as putting on plays, visiting New York City, attending live theater and enjoying the outdoors. Club members may also choose to participate in Special Olympic events.
