Provides a grade system of learning in a formal school setting from Kindergarten through 12th grade for students with multiple disabilities, autism, brain injuries, and developmental disabilities.

Provides 24 hour educational, residential and recreational services to moderate/severe/profound developmentally disabled and autistic children ages 5 to 21 years of age. Core programs include 12 month special education program, evening, weekend and holiday recreational programs. Specialty programs include: assistive technology therapeutic massage treatment of dysphagia and feeding disorders transitional services and music, art, and pet therapy. Clinical services include physical, speech, occupational and nutritional therapies, nursing and medical care, physical services, augmentative communications, and specialized child care. Also provides positive behavioral support strategies, and psychological, psychiatric and social services. Walk-in or call.

Provides a NYSED approved article 81 residential school for youth ages 5-21 years old. Includes a 12 month program with a 6:1:3 ratio as well as speech, occupational therapy, physical therapy and counseling. New York State certified special education school that was created to accommodate the needs of the children and adolescents with developmental disabilities who reside at The Robert J. McMahon Children’s Center in Nassau County, Long Island. Small class sizes and student-centered instruction tailor each student’s education to his/her individual needs and abilities.

Offers an academic program for children in 1st through 4th grades, which focuses on the basic challenges faced by children with language-based learning disabilities, and developing self-confidence in their own ability to achieve success.

Offers a specialized comprehensive educational curriculum for students in 9th through 12 grades, to help each student overcome their learning difficulties and to obtain their full potential to attain goals which are worked towards.

Provides females (age 12-18, 7th-12th grade) a residence which offers education, psychiatry, full medical and dental, substance abuse counseling, individual and group counseling, and adventure based programs. The Day School offers education, counseling (group and individual), and adventure based programs.

School providing an alternative education program for children 3-21 years old with autism and other developmental disabilities or behavioral challenges, whose needs cannot be met in a local public school program. Program provides Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA) therapy. Integrated Preschool (for children 3-4 years old) and Day Care (for children 0-5 years old) are offered for both typical children and children with developmental disabilities. Provides students with hearing loss, communication disorders, and/or multiple disabilities a small class milieu in a Total Communication, Language Rich Environment (LRE). Instruction, following New York State Education Department standards, is provided using Total Communication - spoken, signed and written language - to meet students' individual communication needs. Related services, including Speech, Physical and Occupational Therapies, as well as counseling are available. Audiological services such as hearing tests and minor device repair (hearing aids, cochlear implants, etc.) are provided on-site by licensed audiologists. Academic based "Specials," such as Art, Drama and Music are also offered. SMSD has a strong after school program that includes tutoring, sports and community based activities. A 5 day residential program is also available.

A school that establishes a curriculum for each child, no matter how handicapped, and attempts to increase skill, increase rate, or improve a behavior specific to their level and learning ability in order to increase their chances of achievement. Also for the older youth offers a pre-vocational readiness program offering a logical and sequential system for developing the fundamental skills and work habits needed for real life job opportunities.

Provides a special education through services and programs specifically designed for children and adolescents with multiple disabilities. Specific services that are provided include speech, occupational, physical, psychological, and behavioral therapies as well as training many students in the Vocational Program.

Special day school providing educational programming for students who have special learning, social, and emotional needs. Provides students with the academic, social, and behavioral supports necessary for meeting commencement requirements. School-to-work transition planning begins at age 13 to prepare students for the shift to the community and toward their post-secondary goals. Offers a residential program for children with autism spectrum disorder ,and/or multiple disabilities to include autism that incorporates Applied Behavioral Analysis teaching methods and positive behavior supports. Programming focuses on life skills recreation and leisure skills, household living; with opportunities for participation in Special Olympics Events. Housing placement is based on age and level of functioning. Family outings day and home visits are encouraged.

Provides daycare and preschool services for children with disabilities aged 0-5 years old. Provides respite and school age services for individuals with developmental disabilities aged 5-21 years old.
