The BOCES Adult Education program provides classes and home study options for adult students wanting to improve their literacy skills and/or prepare for the GED exam.

Provides a culturally responsive learning environment with dual-language for children from birth to 5 years and their parents/caregivers. Learning activities take place at learning centers, in the community, and in the home.

Provides supports to adult and adolescent learners and assists with developing the home as a learning environment.

Services for children include an early childhood classroom experience, an after school program, monthly Family Night and summer activities. Adult and adolescent learners participate in English Language classes, High School Equivalency Programs, and Vocational Training. Hudson Family Literacy offers both home and center based services.

* Provides no cost literacy tutoring to adults by trained volunteers. * Assists English speakers looking to improve reading, writing, math or science literacy or pursue their GED. * Assists foreign-language speakers seeking to learn English: comprehension, speaking, reading and writing. Helps those interested prepare for US Citizenship exam. * Structures tutoring primarily in a one-to-one setting at a time and place convenient for both learner and tutor. Group sessions offered as needed for math, science, conversation/pronunciation and a book group. Tutors work with individuals until they have met their goals.

Provides migrant students in Jefferson, Lewis, Oswego, and Wayne counties with educational and support services including in-school and/or in-home tutoring, summer tutoring, educational field trips, family literacy, preschool education, outreach, interpretation and advocacy.

Offers on-site English as a Second Language (ESL) classes in migrant labor camps and for out-of school youth ages 16 to 21 years.

Provides students in grades 7th through 12th with activities designed to promote career awareness, explore post-secondary options, perform community service and develop leadership skills.

Provides free tutoring for adults below 9th-grade reading level who wish to improve reading skills. One-to-one tutoring at times/places convenient for learner. Free and confidential.

Provides an in-home school readiness program with twice weekly visits with the family, bringing a new book or toy for the child to keep and model for the parents' fun ways to help their child learn through play.

Focuses on building relationships with families to support parents in realizing their role as their children's first and most important teacher and the positive impact they will have on their child's academic success. Early literacy, math, cognitive, and social-emotional skills are developed in an effort to decrease the preparation/achievement gap for children living in poverty and to start them on the path to school success.

Offers a full range of library services and activities for adults and children, including computer access, story programs for preschoolers, early literacy programs for infants, and summer book clubs for children and teens. Also provides computer and technology classes and one-on-one instruction.

Trains volunteers to tutor adults one-on-one in English language reading, writing and speaking.

Offers a Pre-Kindergarten program for 4 year olds eligible for kindergarten the following September in either Connetquot or Middle Country School Districts. Connetquot offers a half day comprehensive early childhood education program. Middle County offers a 6.5 hour day. Activities promote social, emotional, physical and cognitive development. Provides Information and Referral, Reference Services, Readers Advisory and programs for children from birth through Grade 5 as well as parents. Programs and services include, but are not limited to, Storytimes, Arts and Crafts, Film Presentations, Family Programs, Parent-Child Workshops and Reading Clubs.

Offers classes designed for non-native adults seeking to improve their abilities to speak, understand, read and write the English language. Classes are offered at the beginning, intermediate and advanced levels; Day and evening classes are available. Curriculum incorporates American History and Government and the steps needed to become a U.S. citizen. Courses are offered at various locations. Call for more detailed information.

The Parent-Child Home Program provides two home visits a week for families with children ages 2 and 3 years old during the school your (Oct-May). Each week the home visitor brings the family a book or educational toy that remains with them permanently. The home visitor models parenting techniques, emphasizes verbal interaction and learning through play. The goal is to help parents become their children's first and most important teacher and ensure that these children enter school ready to learn and succeed. Families with low-income, low education level and other barriers to school success are targeted. Walk-in.

Literacy Volunteers of America teaches adults how to read or improve their reading skills. Also provides English classes to anyone who wants to learn to speak or improve their skills.

Program works to explicitly teach emergent literacy skills in order to prevent or diminish reading challenges before they begin. Emergent literacy skills include speaking, reading, writing, and viewing during the early childhood years. This is a multi-sensory program that targets auditory processing skills, expressive and receptive language skills, phonological awareness, print knowledge, academic concepts, fine motor, and sensory skills.

Provides Reference, Information and Referral, and Reader's Advisory. Offers ESOL Classes, Computer Classes, Career Counseling, Citizenship Preparation Classes, World Festivals, Homebound delivery and a wide range of programs which may include book discussions, services to people with disabilities including the Books for Dessert program, a book club for adults with intellectual disabilities, and technology assistance.

A 4-week leadership training program for middle school student during the summer months.
